I think most people can relate to someone in the story. That's why it's such a hit.

True, Fred's art skills is impressive. You can almost relate to him. He doesn't use fancy stuff to express his art. It's all right there.

I think that the reason everyone loves MegaTokyo is the characters. They are a division between reality and fantasy. The characters are people like you and me, but their existence is highlighted. The situations and constant action, whether emotional or physical, is so vastly different and better than ours we become entrapped in it. Because of the great adventures of Great Teacher Largo, or the mysterious personality of Miho, we feel a tug on our souls. We have such a great yearning for this type of adventure, romance, and/or power that we cannot help but love MegaTokyo. This desire for the betterment of our own lives is why we feel a great love and need for MegaTokyo.
