Thought you might all might get a kick out of this. This is an ad for the Body Shop that was forced to be removed from print by Mattel because it QUOTE "was insulting to the real barbie". Apprently you can now file legal motions on behalf of the emotions of dolls. And a man in the US demanded that a poster be taken down because it "traumatized his daughter." I guess somebody shouldn't tell her that she came out of a hole that was much fatter, ickier, bloodier, and with lots more hair. surprised

It's funny. I went to this Sixers Basketball game and the half time show was this men that danced around and took of there shirts are were highly over weight. People found it soo funny, but if a female did that everyone would be grossed out.
Oh god..Lets not hurt the dolls. PEACE FOR THE DOLLS Erm..Shouldn't the person who said, "your insulting the real barbie." like be checked..I mean last time I checked I never saw a doll get up and talking about her emotions..unless you press a button on her back and says, "Oh my god..I love to lyke go shopping." Don't remember pressing the dolls back and hearing, "Poster that show the truth about women in US really makes me anger. I think we should focus more on what my body is, because this is how every female should like..and oh yes I lyke want to go shopping." I never played with Barbies..I used to rip there heads off when I was little and stick the heads on my brothers G.I Joe's.
The whole traumatized daughter thing was weird..for how old is this mans daughter and if she is younger then ten did she actually go up to her Dad and say, "Daddy the poster really does traumatize me. I wish you to tell people to take it down."
I really like the quote though. I would of had fun with that doll too.

I don't get it, if this is a campaign against big people, how come the doll actually looks rather pretty? And, Supermodels wouldn't be so "Super" if everyone looked like them... sweatdrop They might as well of just took down the campaign due to major flaws, not Barbie insulting and Daughter traumatizing...

I think they ment the actuall living barbie....the person who made the doll made it a replica of their daughter barbie......thats who they were talking about.....not the doll! xd *EDIT* if they did mean the doll....then their just stupid and petty or something....that would just be wierd.
and I see nothing wrong with the doll.....I actually think its alittle on the skinny side, I would like to see a bigger doll 3nodding

It's not a campaign against big people. It's a campaign really aimed at "real women", stating that you're not a model, but neither are most people, so it's okay. I think Dove sopas, and Hanes are doing similar campaigns, using "fuller figured" women. Though those women (who are on TV too) aren't really so much full-figured as much as they just simply aren't twigs. This is the first probably where they showcased a woman with chunk. The body shop is one of those new-age natural healthcare stuff selling personal hygiene products and naturally made cosmetics.

I had a barbie kind of doll when I was younger that was a tad on the heavier side. She was my favorite. I wish I could remember the name of the doll.

Actually, Dove's "Campaign for True Beauty" isn't focused on just the plus-sized community. They've also worked with other "Imperfections" as well. ie. Size, Age, exc. Anyway, I've been a loyal customer of The Body Shops (I go there for my mom's presents). I say kudos for helping the world to understand true beauty. And if anyone is so offended by this that they have to complain like sissy-maries about it, THEY DESERVE TO BE TRAMATIZED!Inscriven Shampoo_0405 The whole traumatized daughter thing was weird..for how old is this mans daughter and if she is younger then ten did she actually go up to her Dad and say, "Daddy the poster really does traumatize me. Of course, would you REALLY want everyone laughing at you like that?

*quickly pounces on Inscriven 4laugh heart *
I have a postcard from that same campaign in my high school agenda...I'll have to hunt for it and show it to all of you, it's awesome.
It's all about the uppity skinny people *mind you I am only reffering to the uppity skinny people, not skinny people in general, {winks at Fuzzeh wink }* who feel that anyone who does not have a small waist, perfectly toned arms/legs/tummy should not be invisioned as a thing of beauty, but of disgust....well ******** them.
Beauty IS in the eye of the beholder, after all 3nodding biggrin
*darts out of the guild leaving a smoke trail behind her xp *
