E.G. 007 Semiremis Shadows-shine quietstorm 2 Majnooni I don't understand the religious issue (primarily Christian, I think, but maybe others take issue) with Harry Potter. There is a difference between being entertained by a fictional story about a fictional concept of magic, and actually practicing dark magic, or magic of any kind. I think that as long as you are old/sane enough to separate story from reality, what is the problem? You are correct as long as you are old enough to seperate story from reality, there won't likely be any problems, but as it stands the stories are usually geared towards the young impressionable children who are most times intrigued and curious enough to seek more information about magic and it continuous to lead if curiosity is not satisfied, but this is how one learns by seeking or pursuing. Well that's where the parent's need to set bounderies for their kids. It's up to the parent to teach the kid the difference between fiction and reality. And Harry Potter will not teach a kid to want to do magic, it in no way reflects on the actual magic community. So yea, if some kid wants to go grab a twig and start waving it around saying they are doing magic like Harry Potter did then they will look really silly. That's what I want to do on Halloween cool I did that when I was younger and had read the Harry Potter books. I found all sorts of twigs in my back yard and they became my wands. I still do. My friend and I joke that one of these days something is actually gonna happen and I'm gonna have a spaz attack of joy.

It's kind of funny, but after I read Harry Potter I actually did leave Christianity and start practicing witchcraft... just not for the reasons a lot of Christians seem to think. I was raised a Jehovah's Witness, and after the HP movies started coming out, there was this big freak out about how if they let kids read these books they would turn to magic and Satan worshiping or whatever. Among us youngins, not reading HP was a great way to show that you were a good little Christian. But I was always kind of rebellious, so I decided to read all of the books anyway. Once I'd finished the last one that had come out at the time all I could think was, "What the hell? These are innocent little kids books with strong Christian undertones... And magic like the stuff in the books isn't even real." This kind of started a spiral for me of questioning church teachings, because if they could be so wrong about these books being evil, I figured they could be wrong about a lot of things. Finally, I left the church, and eventually became a Pagan/witch... though that was just a coincidence (not to mention that the magic in HP is completely unlike real witchcraft...). So, yeah, I firmly believe that that if Harry Potter has caused any sort of backlash against Christianity, it's because certain uptight Christian groups brought it on themselves by warning kids against the books, not because HP is evil in any way.

What i thought was funny was the "free counciling" the churches in my college town offered outside of the theater for people that watched the Da Vinci Code.

I think it's sad when some believers are biased against stories with fantasy, magic and such. They can still be very enjoyable and inspiring stories. And the readers know that what's happening there is a part of the imaginary world that has its own rules and not something to be done in reality. I have seen only the first 4 movies so far but I've read all the books and I loved them. The adventure, thrill, mystery. And how only in the last book the many puzzles and mysteries were uncovered. It's fascinating even for adults. There are characters that surely can be an input for thinking about and for inspiration.

I was watching the show "The Office", and there was a girl that was supposed to be role-playing a witch-doctor, and when she was asked how she got interested into the dark arts, she said, "I read the Harry Potter books." I thought It was hilarious, although I am technically Pagan.

The article on the first page said that satanism and Wicca are the exact same. WTF?! What kind of idiot would say that? And Wicca is not taught in schools! I didn't learn about it until my friend introduced me. (I'm not Wiccan, but I am Pagan, And I've learned as muc has I think I can without initiation.) I know that there is absolutely no conncetion between the two. For one, no worship of another religion's diety. That technically doesn't make it anything like it just by itself.

It actually has to go as far as saying anything non-christian is satanic. It's satanic that way, and in no other way.

XxBroken_And_ShatteredxX It actually has to go as far as saying anything non-christian is satanic. It's satanic that way, and in no other way. That actually is the basic idea behind it though. Christian as a dualistic system portrays the world as either very black or very white. You are either following God or following Satan (whether you realize it or not) therefore both Wicca and Satanism would be satanic (in that the driving force behind them is the Devil as understood by most of the Christian world). So coming from their perspective it makes sense, although I can't say that I agree with it.
