Her solid black hair fell across her face, giving her a roguish look. She brushed the strands away, revealing her sparkling green eyes. The boys in the hallway stopped and dropped what they were doing, staring at the girl. Trissie Rockford glanced around the unfamiliar school corridor. She stumbled over someone's dropped notebooks.
"Sorry 'bout that..." a boy stepped forward, reaching for her spilled books. His piercing azure eyes locked with hers. He helped her up from her kneeling position.
"I'm Curtis Willaman. You must be Trissie Rockford, the newbie," he said in his sweet tenor voice. Trissie blushed, but tried to hide it by glancing at her feet. She strode forward to find the blonde boy blocking her way. Her cheeks grew rosey red in an embarrassed blush. The hallway was deathly silent. The bell rang, saving Trissie from an embarrassing stream of quick words.
"I'm guessing you're heading to science?" Curtis asked, his casual air surprised Trissie. He wiped a short strand of his golden locks from his eyes.
"Uh, yeah. I guess..." Trissie spurted. Don't look into his eyes, his deep, caring eyes... No! Focus on finding your way around! she thought. Curtis gestured in the direction of the desired destination.
Trissie found she liked this boy. Almost too much. She dicovered that she blushed a lot in his presence. The day continued uneventfully. Trissie almost jumped onto her bus. Her surprise was full as she saw the Willaman boy patting the seat next to him, an almost silly grin on his boyish features.
"Hiya, Trissie!" Curtis said joyfully as she sat down nervously. She blushed deeply as she heard a few girls snicker behind her.
"Hi, Curtis," she said nervously. Another snicker emmited from the girls behind the two. Being a junior is gonna be tough... Trissie told herself. This Curtis boy seemed to be love at first sight to Trissie, but she dismissed the notion. She had been rejected before and she wasn't going to travel that road again. At least she thought she wasn't, but here she was, falling for a junior guy on the first day.
"I, uh, really..." Curtis stammered. "Uh, really like you a lot." He finally finished the thought. Trissie blushed, expecting another snicker from behind, but she heard a dreamy sigh and a whispered "aah..." from the classmates sitting behind.
"Um, me too." Trissie said boldy. "I guess it's, uh, love at first..."
"Uh... Fall?" Curtis supplied.
And that was how Trissie and Curtis met...
