It depends how the insrructor explains it to you. When i was first starting out I was really confused because my private instructor used all these big terms and didn't really explain it, but then band director explained everything and it was really easy! :]

At first the fingering is really hard then as you go on you get used to then it's kinds hard when you learn a new note for play a full song like "Jingle Bells", or "Home on the range."

Peutaiite
I don't know if this is true, but I heard that its really easy starting off, and then it gets harder as you go on.

i play b flate clarinet and it's true it starts off easy then it gets harder as u go on because the notes get harder and u play music that goes fast and one of the purcusionist rape u or is that just me?

i started clarinet a couple of weeks ago but i played flute for like 3 years before so clarinet was pretty easy for me, except that instead of calling the notes the right name i number them, for example 1 is C 2 is D 3 is E 4 is F and 5 is G. But it stops there, probably because I already learned A when I was on flute.

well at first it can be really hard because you HAVE to learn the correct ombochure and the clarinet one is really hard to make. and sometimes when your playing your fingers hurt because theres so many dang keys on it :/ but I love clarinet! heart and another thing that sucks, your like the only instrument that squeeks so it's really embarrasing when you make a loud one and your band teacher glares at you sweatdrop but besides all that I think wait i KNOW that clarinet is one of the best instruments ever!!!! it's so much fun to play! and me and my bestie tayler taught ourselves to play starwars on it! everyone else in the band was soo jealous! biggrin

well it was easy for me...but it was a challange to learn the high notes....but if you really put your heart in it..then you have no probalem

It's not too hard, you should go for it! smile learning how to use the proper embouchure takes some getting used to, but after awhile it starts to feel really natural.
i've been playing for 5 years and still love it ^,^

I found it really easy when i learned it, and the thing is the fingerings are pretty simple. i was taught in my school back in 5th grade, and now it's been six years of playing it, and i love the clarinet.

I've played the clarinet for 9 years now, its always been a part of my life, at first its just setting up your embacher properly then its just the notes, and learning to play out! The last year and a half I have gained skill enormusly because I was put on first chair, but it forced me to improve and now I'm so much better than I thought id ever be. So if you do play clarinet, be prepared for hard runs later on and cool melody's but overal I love it
