Heh. I got into post-rock via progressive. Mogwai were the first post-rock act I ever listened to, purely because they're from my town. Still one of my favourites as well.
If you like industrial stuff, maybe check out Angelspit too, but they're more on the electronic, dancy side of it.
I also noticed I didn't put ANY shoegaze stuff on my list at all. FOR SHAME.
