All of these pokemon are gifted with extreme beauty, and thus would be used in contests as well as gym battles. Empoleon, who I would have raised from just a tiny Piplup, would be the leader of the team, and he/she would most likely be battling the most.

I know that Mew is my absolute favorite Pokemon, but I do have other non-legendary favorites. cat_3nodding

If I were to take any six Pokemon with me, I'll take...

* Eevee
* Pachirisu
* Lanturn
* Togetic
* Audino
* Blaziken

Many Pokemon can have some pretty cool movesets once you get them to learn a few egg moves, level them up, and even use TMs and HMs on them. That's why Pokemon such as Raticate and Bibarel are used for their versatility. As for me, I'd use my Pokemon for protection and companionship. Have company, will travel! cat_blaugh

I don't know how many people have actually posted in this thread, but either so few bothered to read the rules or there is something of immense and terrible difficulty with the concept of "No starters." Eventually, I no longer bothered correcting people, but I'd be lucky if one in five actually managed to follow what I once believed to be very simple rules.
Really... Did you see the sarcastically large, red, bolded, underlined text? That evidently made it no easier to manage.

And now I'm reminded why I never posted here. I wouldn't even know if I was breaking the rules.

I think that I'd like to amend my list as well. I'd like to replace Cubone with Honchkrow. Between the pigeon chest, the fedora-like plumage, and even the cravat-like chest covering, I can think of no Pokemon that looks more like me.
Whether or not I chose to fight with them, this Pokemon evolves from a Duskstone, and so is attainable anytime. I would indeed evolve my Murkrow.
I think I'll soon be posting an additional list of my all-time six.

With a new generation out, my list changes again.
Kadabra, Sneasel, Honchkrow, Stoutland, Swoobat, Malamar and Cinccino.
I'd never pass up the first (and thus far only) pokemon that is both of my favorite types at once. And that 'Dex entry... He's so well suited. I'd be likely to keep the name that I decided in the game, which is Illithid.
As for Shuppet, the ultimate goal was really banette, and I can no longer reconcile myself to his backstory, which changes. Shuppet's backstory would seem to indicate a normal pokemon's life (at least for a ghost) but then when he evolves his past changes to make his origin story that of a discarded toy.
Part of it is probably that I never had a singular toy that I formed a deep, permanent, emotional attachment to that I kept throughout my childhood (as much as I loved them collectively) and how I saw them more as being modifiable artwork than I did as things with emotions and feelings. Furthermore, I have become much less vengeful in my old age, and being vengeful was a big part of what drew shuppet in the first place. Those elements, coupled with it's nonsensical seemingly retconned backstory make him much less fitting a pokemon for me to have, as much as I like his design.

This is really in need of an updated, largely due to further consideration.
Firstly, I think I'd leave Cinccino as a Minccino. It really isn't much of a fighter either way, so I'd just as soon leave it as it was.
Now that Zoroark is a Pokemon that can be found in the wild, I really can't imagine that I would ever pass up the opportunity to have a tricky dark fox of my own. Not only would that level of deception interest me in battle more, but I also may have him occasionally fill in for me at work on days, when I just can't even.
Also, I recently transferred to Alpha Ruby my Linoone, Wepearl, so named because in the Pokewalker, she had a tendency to bring me lots of Wepear berries and pearls. At the time I found her, it was getting near to being the worst week of the worst three-year period of my life. Again, I found her using the Pokewalker. I didn't even know, then, that it was possible to have Pokemon choose to accompany you, that way. Only because I just so happened to be transferring a raticate, just before getting on a bus was there even that opening for her to even appear, and in that narrow window, she did.
This was significant to me, because to this day, she is the only Pokemon that wasn't given to me, captured, or in some other way, won. She simply chose to come with me. It was as if she sensed that I was absolutely miserable and just decided to come with me, in the hopes that I might just be a little less miserable.
I know that this is all my own sentimentality applied to a bunch of pixels and data, but isn't that what makes games like this fun? Isn't that why we play them?
Her stats are unimpressive and her nature not the best, but that will never be the point. Curiously enough, her affection levels in Amie weren't reset during the transfer, and from what I've heard, they should have. I don't know what caused this bug, but it made me really happy... Like she remembered.
Also, I know that I said "No starters" but since they have expanded the world vastly since I made that rule. Now there is an analogous location to my own locality... Within a state or two of it.
Of the Unova starters, I would definitely have to choose Snivy. Given that it is my starter and that it has a relatively low-level evolution, I do think that it would reach its final form of Serperior.
Finally, with mega-evolution being a new feature, were I in possession of the means, I would want to have one that was capable, but at the same time, I would also want to maintain a Kadabra. The Kadabra would largely be more for companionship, illumination, and teleportation than battle.
Crobat would also have to make the list. I've long gone back and forth whether or not I preferred him to swoobat, and I never could really decide. The idea of me not having a poison Pokemon never did quite sit right with me, and crobat is my unchallenged favorite poison type. Admitedly, since he isn't on my primarily-combat team it may take some time for him to fully evolve into golbat, but from there it would take very little time to attain crobat.

So, my final list would be this:
Battle Team: Alakazam, Honchkrow, Serperior, Stoutland, Zoroark, Malamar
Pets/Companions/Transportation: Kadabra, Sneasel, Linoone, Swoobat, Cinccino, Crobat
