"I think that maybe it's because I've seen a lot of animals, I've just never gotten really close to them or known what they were called. See, I lived on a trading ship for the past twelve years; I've been all around the world, and have seen so many strange things, I've forgotten most of them. But the form he takes most of the time-that, that I can identify. That's a giant octopus, though he's really aren't all that giant. And sometimes he takes the form of a cat like the one we had on the ship. But then there's a monkey-thing sometimes, and the toothy fish, and some species of seagull- I'm not sure which one. That's why I'm hoping we can take a zoology class, or at least have access to some good animal books in the library. My mother was university-educated, graduating in the study of life sciences, so following in her footsteps here would make her proud, I think. I think I'd like to study geology myself, or physics. Those'd be enjoyable." Sang paused; she'd gone on for an awful long time. She didn't want to monopolize the conversation- one of the few etiquette pieces she remembered was not to monopolize conversations. "How about you?"

Pieuvre ducked as the swallow circled his Sang, then returned to the other girl's shoulder. He tried to solidify a bit more; he wished so much that he could settle! But he knew that his Sang wasn't ready, and he wasn't going to do anything until she was ready. It wouldn't be fair.

Annie looked at Sang with interest and curiosity brimming all over her face. "You spent most of your life on a boat! Wow that sounds amazing, I have never traveled by boat before, only horse drawn carriage. I grew up on my family farm which might be why all Iñaki's forms are things Ive seen or things that reside in the forest." Annie's mind raced through all of the things that Sang must have seen or experienced. To be on a boat for so long, and a trading boat that travels the world no less! She must have seen most of the world already! Annie felt incredibly simple next to this woman but not in a bad way, she just knew she was drawn to a simple life and that simple pleasures pleased her the most. Knowing someone with such a vastly different life than the one she had led so far made her kind of appreciate what she had and what she could become. Ok so school wasnt that bad...

"Well the library is pretty vast in this place. I sat in there a few days ago to figure out one of Iñaki's last forms, some kinda big cat. Turned out to be a cheetah, I never saw them before in person only in paintings so I guess if any of those animals your deamon's got ya seen in a painting its eligible. Oh man if you've been so far around the world your daemon could be almost anything! That must be exciting to travel....Zoology huh I will say I never thought about what kind of things we'd learn but that does sound like fun, I've only been taught by my father and brothers, but never been to a real school before." she laughed "I have to admit I was expecting classes on sewing and etiquette." Annie skillfully avoided mention of her mother, if she could she would act like her mother had died long ago, her mother was dead to her anyway. The only problem was she knew that the teachers would know about her mother especially since her mother would probably be inquiring to the school about her often to make sure she wasn't going to run away and such...well she wasnt she had already become interested in the school and to spite her mother she might just have fun. But Sang and her were new friends and they probably weren't going to exchange details for a while yet. So she kept her happy smile and curiosity.

Iñaki shifted around, he was naturally playful even though he liked to pretend he was the adult in most situations. But these girls gossiping...ok so they were talking and making friends but couldnt they do it in a more active way?! Iñaki kept his canine body and switched his faces around all of the animals he knew he could become to do his best to make faces at Annie while she wasn't looking and maybe entertain Pieuvre.

Caitlin had no idea that there was anyone in the info booth until she saw a black shape inside--well, two black shapes. She stiffened, feeling Cayne bump slightly into her, not knowing she would stop. Then the feeling disappeared; of course, she barely noticed. There was someone there, someone inside the booth. And from the black daemon that came into view first, it was Duncan Haylen.

She panicked instantly. Oh, jeez. This was Duncan, the Headmaster of Jaradin. This was...it was like meeting the king himself! Never had she had to deal with people of power--back in her home village, they had a single mayor-like leader. Everyone knew everyone else, though, and she was good friends with the leader. But a headmaster! This was...she couldn't do this. She just couldn't. She'd freak out, or trip, or do something weird. Self-consciousness nearly overwhelmed her, until she heard Cayne's voice. "Caitlin, you're fine. Relax. He's not going to do anything bad to you or anything. Who knows, maybe he's a kind person under his aloof appearance. You'll be fine. It's best you get on his good side, anyways." Much as she didn't want to, she had to agree with her daemon. This could turn out well.

She tried not to act strange as she came up to the booth. Hearing him speak to her, she looked up with a smile; somehow, she always happened to do that when she talked to people she really didn't know. "Good afternoon to you as well..." She struggled for a split second for a respectful name, helped by Cayne's prodding suggestion of "Headmaster Haylen." "...Headmaster Haylen." She made eye contact for a moment as she greeted him, but then dropped it as she looked back down at the pamphlets. Oh, she felt so weird when she met eyes with someone else. It was just...it felt odd, so odd. Of course, Cayne was not fazed in the least; he simply nodded respectfully to Aidensur, tail held lower than hers and wagging slightly. Her being the only Inner Manifestation know to exist, it was best he be incredibly respectful.

Cait picked up a pamphlet and began to leaf through it, but after a few moments of staring at the dizzying array of classes to take, she knew she was completely out of her league. "You can handle a five-hundred kilogram horse, but you can't pick school classes," she heard Cayne chuckle. Oh, hush up, she thought back, and heard another chuckle. He was right, though--again. Still holding the pamphlet, she looked back up at Duncan. "Headmaster...I was wondering if you could help me. Back at home our school was really not that large, as there were only a few students in the village, so they chose everything for us. I'm really not sure which classes I should take, and...well, I was wondering if you had time to help?"

Alanna scowled and pinched her sister's arm when she cursed. The blob that belonged to Alanna gave a giggle which caused the scowl to deepen even more. "Watch your words Claire! We're in public for goodness sake," she hissed out. She was desperately trying not to draw any undo attention on them.

The scowl lapsed into a frown as she too began to leaf through the papers. So the things had a name did they? She gave a delicate snort as she noticed that the name looked and sounded like demon. "That's probably what the little monsters are in reality," the older girl muttered.

"Sewing and etiquette? Ugh, I'd be hopeless at those. My mum and dad mighta been class, but I was raised on a boat, and they believed very strongly in teaching me useful things for living on a boat. Like knot tying and navigating by the stars and bartering in foreign languages and... hmm, I guess I did learn a little sewing, but nothing fancy, just the kind of stiches that can repair a sail or put two sides of a cut back together." Sang shrugged, rolling her shoulders one at a time. "I'm probably going to be rather dreadful in actual society," she confessed, an awkward tone in her voice. "I mean, like, clothes and such; I haven't worn a dress since I was seven, but here, I get looked at funny for wearin' breeches. And I don't even own a skirt! I'm gonna have to go shopping sometime, I think. Fittin' in is tough. I'm glad you're nice, Annie." She said it simply and plainly; Sang didn't really understand the business of sycophantry. "You wanna go look at some of those class brochures? Maybe we'll find something we're both interested in and we can take at least one together!"

Pieuvre wrapped a ghostly tentacle around his human's arm, then dropped his shape into obscurity once more. Then, out of the cloud of magica came a flickering light and a toothy grin. One of the niceities of having bioluminescent influences was the ability to always create patterns of light- an excellent party trick.

Annie smiled and took Sangs arm in a friendly way as she began to lead her towards the tent that contained all of the class information. If there was one thing she had managed to pick up while holed up at her grandparents house it was etiquette and how to dress. Sadly they had been necessities since her grandparents were rich it was unforgivable to walk around their house in her usual farm wear. She still much preferred her simple dresses and work clothing but if Sang needed someone to show her how to appear fashionable and stay comfortable all at the same time she would be happy to share her knowledge.

"You have nothing to worry about Sang, I'll help you out! I know what you mean about people thinking you look strange, I grew up on the family farm and recently spent a month with my grandparents who, well to be nice I'll just say they are a different class than the one I grew up in." Annie smiled to indicate that she really didnt care that her grandparents were rich and that she grew up poor and continued. "I'll go out wich ya one day and we'll get you something nice to throw off the crowd." She lowered ehr voice with a smile "And dont worry I spent the first few days making sure to figure out what were the most comfortable and "fashionable" things, I wont stick you with those 20lb itchy dresses." Annie laughed good naturedly, she really did think some of the girls who wore those huge dresses that were made of the most horrid feeling fabrics and were too heavy for their own good needed a reality check. She just couldnt wrap around her head why they would wear such silly and movement hampering things.

Iñaki had been staring at Pieuvre because he had been bioluminesing and it had been the most interesting he had ever seen. What kind of animal was this guy!! It was rather cool but then the girls were moving and so Iñaki hopped to it and became a kind of strange mixture of a bear, cheetah, and dog. The bird mouse and deer form still peeked about as his form shifted but he was mainly a large shaggy four legged thing as the girls walked. He did like to run around on four legs and hoped that he would settle into something that did so, although he had to admit flying was more convenient.

Looking back over his shoulder as he was addressed in regard to the classes, he himself swallowed a little guiltily. Though it was his duty to help the students, he found it difficult to talk to them sometimes, especially when it meant he had to be 'helpful'. Usually the teachers were loitering around here, however, today, many of them were just chatting and getting to know each other once more for the new year. Straightening and giving a soft cough as he cleared his throat, he rearranged his glasses and stepped up, taking the pamphlet from Caitlin and glancing over it. Aidensur stood too, and shook herself out, her light paws making short work of the distance and she sniffed at the indistinct, swirly Daemling beside the girl as Duncan stammered his explanation.

"Well, you see... er... young lady, these classes are not all mandatory. Here," He pointed to three that were separated a little from the long list. They were English Language and Literature, Mathematics and The Sciences. "These are your only... ahem... your only mandatory lessons." He listed the pamphlet closer to his face for a moment, pushing his glasses up and looking under them at the sheet of paper in his hand. Aidensur shook her head a little and glanced over at the Daemling.

Forgive him. He's nervous of his speech later. Usually much more eloquent... knowing... She looked up at her human's confused face once more, before chuckling softly, sitting beside him, a quiet statue of perfection.

"Ahh, yes. This year, a few new classes are being introduced, however, from the rest here, you see? From this long list, you pick just three more to bring up your lessons to the necessary amount, however, for those that wish to do more, the MOST you can choose is 2 more, so you have your 5 chosen, and 3 mandatory. A total of 8 different lessons you can take each semester. Of course, I cannot chose for you those you wish to take as your chosen ones. However, what many students do is to read through these pamphlets, circle the ones they like the sound of and then go and talk to the teacher in charge. All are available to talk to at any time of the day, save their teaching times. Just wander on over to their offices. You probably won't be taught by be till your Daemon there is a lot more developed. I teach Practical Magika; something you cannot perform without a Daemon far more developed then your own." At this he scritched Aiden' behind the ears and she let out a low growling purr of contentment. "Any other questions you have should be easily answered within the pamphlets. Unless you need my services further?"

Well done, sir. Aidensur said, a hint of mockery in her tone. Duncan's only answer was to tug on one of her large ears.
