Gah... I just got taught about Judaism in school and I mentioned about how I didn't believe in it or God as that fact and no joke like 4 kids said " So your Atheist?" LIKE WTF THERE ARE OTHER RELIGIONS OTHER THAN ISLAM, CHRISTIANITY AND JUDAISM. I actually had to tell them I'm polytheistic and a Pagan. Like at least in schools mention that there r Polytheistic religions. We were talking about Ancient Egypt and one section about Ancient Egypt was completely dedicated to Judaism and no offense to anyone who is Jewish, but like get that crap outta the history books taught in school. I understand that your basically one of the first monotheistic religions and all but personally I aint Jewish and I don't care much about the religion. I understand since in English Class were learning about MANY religions but not as Religion just as literature, but honestly like come on people Religion in the classroom always pisses someone if not everyone off.

I don't really know anything about Pagans, but could there be a sect where there no belief of gods or goddesses? If so, then it would be possible to be Pagan and Atheist.

That's Atheist but then again is Atheism really a religion? Not dissing any atheists but aint religion defined by u believe in god(s) or goddess so how can it be considered a religion? Just wondering so can someone answer me that question?

Atheism is a lack of a belief in dieties. What I asked was it is possible for a Pagan to not believe in gods or goddesses? If so, they could be considered Atheist as well.

heart Last I checked facts require evidence. If they can give me the evidence to go with their statements, that'd be fine... but then it wouldn't be an opinion anymore, would it? Anyway, it all depends on how you look at it. Tolerance is a very important thing to learn when going about the world. I could handle someone trying to force their views with academic perspective, and I would try to learn from them as best I could. But also, for the sake of a learning environment, if religion is not the subject criteria, perhaps it is best left out of that particular class. heart

Uhm, that's a bit of a contradiction.

Pagans believe in something. I can't tell you what specifically because they're so varied, and you haven't specified. I can tell you that they're usually polytheistic, sometimes pantheistic or even animistic.

So I think my school violated No religion in the Classroom on the count of I have to Read Gensis well the first like 5 pages of it and then write about "How I find it Awe Inspiring." When I don't I don't even believe in the religion and I have to write about why I like their belief system. Doesn't this violate the law no religion in public schools? Also anyone think that's fair I have to read it and then write about y i "find it awe inspiring."

heart Personally, I wouldn't make students do something like that involving religious material, because of obvious mindset differences, etc. I think teachers should considers their students before forming said criteria. However, I don't think it violates the rule of no religion in the classroom; provided the task at hand. It seems little different than reading about the Greek gods and writing a paper about them. I can relate to your frustration regarding having to write a paper on why you find it a way that you potentially wouldn't.
If it were me, I would approach the teacher, make my views known, and request that I be permitted to write an alernate analysis, based on my own perspective. If I were a sensible teacher, and a student asked me something like that, I would find it acceptable.
If I wanted my students to write about something inspiring, I would try to make sure it was something that most people could find inspiring by default, and something with a common ground. heart
