He dipped his tail for fresh water, bringing it up and stroking along her scales back and forth. If Kanobi had a book, it would have been about two leaps and a days run forward in what relationship they had. At her question, the blush only intensified. "With good reason." He announced, surprised at his tail as it continued "scrubbing" Kari.

"Oh?" Kari asked coyly, stretching in pleasure at his touch and the feel of the cool water on her back. "What's the reason, if I may be so bold as to ask?" She didn't need to ask, since she'd already worked out the reason, but it would still be nice to hear the answer. Besides, a little clarification now and then was nice.

Kanobi clenched his jaw. He had walked right into that. Now he had to tell her. 'Come on Kanobi! Be an adult!'
Clearing his throat, Kanobi went through about three or four false starts before words actually came out. "It's- it's because... this is very new to me. It's exciting. It's warm feeling. It's- I love you."

Kari smiled triumphantly. "I love you, too, Kanobi." She reached back and gave him a kirin-kiss. Her golden eyes glowed with pride and excitement. Not only was Kari correct in her guess of how Kanobi felt about her, she really liked Kanobi, too. If he was going to have any assistant, she wanted the assistant to be her. If he had any foals, she wanted their mother to be her. That was just how Kari felt, plain and simple.

A kiss! His vision went tunnel vision, focusing on the female. His legs went weak and he wobbled slightly. Was this really happening? She loved him!
He stared, wobbling back and forth on his legs. He didn't notice when rain began to sprinkle down from the sky, the river moving a little faster. "I said it!" He yelled, meant to be a mental hurrah, but it came out vocally.

Kari laughed. "Yes, of course you did, silly, now we should find some kind of shelter before the world gets too muddy." Although Kari loved the rain, she didn't really like mud. Besides, it could be dangerous if there was a flood of any kind. She had a feeling this gentle shower was going to start pouring very, very soon.

His face that now familiar burnt orange color, Kanobi nodded with a glance up at the darkening sky. "I think it'll be raining rather hard before we can reach my nest." He gave Kari a look over and started laughing from pure nervous energy. He was surprised he hadn't run off in fear. Instead, he'd gotten someone to love. In a fit of boldness, he reached forward, licking her nose before running to the shore, looking back at Kari expectantly.

This time, it was Kari's turn to blush at the licking...though the blush did hardly more than tint her black cheeks. She was so startled that it was a moment or two before she realized he was waiting for. Laughing a little in embarrassment, she splashed after him, throwing up great sheets of increasingly muddy water. Kari hadn't expected Kanobi, either, not until she'd met him, and she'd grown fonder over time, to the point where her feelings surprised even her. She'd never felt even remotely this way about any other kirin, but the feeling was...nice. It was incredibly pleasant and warm in her heart, especially as her golden eyes turned to the golden stallion ahead of her.

Standing in in the increasingly steady wave of rain that was as cool as the previous rain fall, Kanobi was surprised he wasn't steaming off. He felt like his body was on fire from his blood pumping of nerves, adrenaline and excitement. Right there, coming toward him, was a female that he lovedm and who returned his feelings. A female who- dare he say it- was to be his mate? Did their proclomations already make them so?
Kari looked so vibrant and alive running through the river toward him. Such power and charisma in her small frame. How could he possibly deserve her?
"We'd better find someplace quick." He said, blinking as drops fell into his eyes.

Kari smiled as she caught up. "Lead the way, Kanobi," she said cheerfully. "I think you know this area better than I do, since I was just passing through." This had to be the happiest day in her life, and she could hardly imagine the happiness that would come soon after. All Kari was right now was incredibly delighted and warm from loving someone and being loved back.

With a slight nod, Kanobi turned and ran through the trees, headed for a clearing that he had been to before. From there he would be able to lead Kari to a small cave he knew of. It would be cramped, but he didn't think she'd mind for the time being...
