Tyranny visibly cringed as he'd not planned on his attack working quite so well. As Kombo splashed into the water, he could do nothing to stop him from going over the falls. "Kombo!" he called out in vain as he raced down the rocky face, nearly tripping and falling in his haste. The path curved out of sight of the pool for a moment, following the face of the cliff, and it took precious seconds for him to return to where his nephew was swimming towards the shore. Slowing his pace, he watched him slump to the ground possibly injured but otherwise looking okay for the moment. Sighing in relief, he composed his features into a hard mask and stood his ground about 5 feet from him, silent. This was not a tactic his brother would employ in this situation...but he was not his brother.

The pain in Kombo's shoulder seemed to bring the realization of the situation back into focus. He was going up against someone with a lot of age and wisdom compared to him but it seemed that arogance was still in position. Slowly and stubbornly Kombo got to his feet and turned his gaze on Tyranny. He knew that even when he was in pain a battle would have to continue so he did his best to quickly lunge at Tyranny with his claws extended ready to go for his uncles eyes. It was a dirty trick but if this tactic worked he could possibly pull it on Jeuri and win easily.

Tyranny was ready for his attack, and sat back on his haunches while moving is forepaws away from his body like he was about to bear hug his nephew. Instead, he quickly brought them around, digging his claws into the meat of Kombo's upper forelegs, using both his nephew's momentum to send him onto his back. With his backlegs tucked tightly to his body, he waited till his nephew's body was on top of his before giving him a solid kick to the lower belly and flipping him over Tyr's head. When Kombo was well into the flip, he finally let go and rolled over to his right side and back on his paws into a crouch. With a powerful thrust, he lept right at his nephew.

Kombo had not expected Tyranny's moves. The claws in his forelegs made him hiss and the kick to the belly caused him to throw up a bit and lose his breath. After he was released from Tyranny's grip he was still not winded enough to flip onto his feet. He landed hard on the ground and looked up just in time to see Tyranny lunging for him.

Tyranny landed hard on the younger male, his forepaws on each shoulder as he lowered his head a scant inch from his neck. Breathing heavy, he waited a second before asking quietly, "What will you do now?" He was waiting for the younger male to admit defeat himself, it was a test, and a very cruel one at that. It was also the first step to admitting perhaps he was not quite as ready as he'd professed earlier and that much work needed to be done. It was a hard thing to admit, but in the end, it would only make him stronger.
This was tough lesson that could only be learned the hard way.

Kombo could do nothing as he was pinned and placed in a position that had it been a real fight would have left him dead. With his breath finally back but pinned to the ground all he could do was growl at Tyranny's question. He may have been an adult but Tyranny still outweighed him and any chance of getting free was out of the question. He knew this was his demise but he took several long moments before he took a deep breath and let it out in a heavy sigh. "I'll die I guess. I have no chance in this hold and Jeuri would already have me dead..." Kombo replied actually be a bit snappy at Tyranny.

"A wise choice," Tyranny growled before backing off of his nephew and sitting beside him. His voice changed to a stern even tone, but no malice within it. It was a teaching voice that Kombo would learn well to listen to in time. "It is difficult for a warrior to admit when he is defeated, but it's important to fight only those battles you have no doubts you can win. You have your youth, and your smaller size give you a good advantage in speed, however, you lack experience. That is what I will give you. I will train you to be not only a warrior in your mind but in your heart and soul. You have your father's arrogance, as have I, but I will teach you to use that to your advantage. He has his weaknesses, and I will help you learn those. I will teach you to be a King." He emphasized the last word, giving it a deeper meaning. While it was obvious that Desero was Tyranny's heir to the Eo Umbra throne, he planned to teach Kombo to be a true king in his own right with the potential to take over Jeuri's spot once he was defeated.

Kombo rolled onto his belly and sat up once Tyranny got off of him. His ears were perked as he listened to Tyranny's words. He didn't like being taught what he thought he already knew but after being pinned by the lion that was teaching he thought it best to listen. If he wanted to live he knew his best chance was with listening to his uncle. At Tyranny's emphasis on the word King, Kombo was confused at first. Tyranny had an heir already so how was he going to be a king but then it hit him. Jeuri was a king and he was planning to take down Jeuri so in all rights Jeuri's kinghood would be his once he had won. "I am ready to learn." He stated simply. He wanted to know everything that Tyranny knew. He understood now that if he wanted to defeat Jeuri he would have to know all of it to even have a chance of bringing Jeuri into the position he had been moments ago.

"I will need to discuss this with the rest of the pride, but for now you will be my second in command. I believe this will be the best way for you to learn is to delve right into it all head-first....." Tyranny pondered things as he looked Kombo over, a smile slowly growing on his muzzle. "Congratulations on your promotion."

Kombo was extremely suprised by the promotion. He hadn't expected to be placed so high just yet. "Thank you Sire. This is the highest honor I could ever hope to be given so early in my life. I will not let you down."
