4. When creating a Zanpakutō, the abilities of Shikai need to match up with the idea behind the Zanpakutō itself. In other words, having an ice attack with a fire Zanpakutō would make no sense. It can go deeper than that, obviously. If a crew finds that a technique doesn't fit, it may need to be removed or thought over.

5. A Bankai needs to make sense with the corresponding Shikai. In other words, a Bankai that gives the Shinigami power over fire does not match a Shikai that gives the power over Water. It can go deeper than that, obviously. If a crew finds that a Bankai doesn't fit, it may need to be removed or thought over.

6. You are free to make your unreleased blade any size or shape and any type of weapon or non-weapon you can think of.

7. Nearly everything needs to be trained for. On some occasions, you may be granted Shikai or Bankai at the Crew discretion, maybe because of a rank earned fairly quickly. This goes for Shunpo, Air Walking, Bankai, etc. There is no set time span in which you can learn it, it is pretty much up to your Captain. This does not mean that one training session grants you your entire arsenal of techniques, each technique must be trained for.
