Izaak gave an unconvinced 'mmm' when she told him that there was nothing that he could do for her and he left it at that. Until she dropped this charade and actually asked things of him, unlike with his obsession with her forgiveness, he would leave it be. Briefly he felt the odd desire rear its ugly head and he stubbornly swallowed it down into his gut, where he hoped it would stay. "Done," he said idly with a small sigh.
But?
He turned his heavily-lidded gaze to look upon her quietly as he waited for her to continue on and when it finally came out he brightened considerably, "Yeah! Sure. In fact I just finished reading this one book," he murmured as fingertips undid the clasp of his messenger bag and he presented her with a book with a fanciful cover on the front. It had the title of 'Tales of the East' scrawled across the cover and on the binding. "S..Sorry if you're not into folklore and stuff but it's kind of my job, in a way." Izaak didn't focus on it too hard, it didn't bring as steady an income as his other business did in which he 'prescribed' herbal concoctions and various other natural healing measures to help people with their aches, pains, and various other problems.

Sally watched him fiddle with his bag out of the corner of her eye, eventually stopping in her walk to look at and then accept the book that was offered to her. Blinking, she reached out and grasped it with cold but gentle hands, taking it from him and bringing it closer for her to inspect. Her thumb brushed the fancy cover. 'Tales of the East', huh? It didn't matter what the subject was...this was her first new-to-her book to read in...well in about a year.
"No, this is great, Thank you." She said, honestly happy this time as she hugged the book to her chest, holding it safely. "Your job? You're...a folklorist?" Because she couldn't think of anything else he could do with a book of folklore. Sally found herself being nice in light of this present, even though it practically guaranteed that she'd have to see him again.

He was happy to see her so appreciative of the book and let her take it from him as he stood there, having stopped in order to concentrate his digging efforts. Plus she had stopped so it only seemed polite rather than continuing along his way as if she hadn't stopped at all, made it hard to hand the book to her if he was several feet ahead of her.
Izaak nodded a bit, "Yep, I also do 'New Age Healing'," he added in an offhand manner, "not sure what is so 'new age' about it since it is stuff that's pretty much been around for years, but it makes me money when my other one falls through," he said thoughtfully as he moved to close his bag up once more. Granted his customer base in the 'healing' department was small because he wasn't well known, plus he moved around a lot which made it hard to get any repeat business, but he wasn't complaining so long as they left his shop before evening set in when the lust for blood and flesh awoke.
Eating your customers, much like constantly being on the move, was bad for business.

"...New Age Healing?" Sally parroted curiously, actually starting to take a minute interest in his life and the things he did. New Age Healing generally meant he had to interact with people, touch people...but he was a Monster. How could he stand to touch them? How? That wasn't fair! She was curious about him now; how 'old' he was, what kind of Creature he was, everything. But there was this pesky thing called Pride in her way. She had hated him when they first met and only caved to a forced friendship because it would drop another subject that pissed her off.
She was pretty sure she had no reason right now to show any interest in him and his life. Not right now at least. That would prove she really didn't mind him. It was never easy for her to let go of first impressions, she couldn't help but cling to them until her grip was forced to be let go.
"That's nice." Sally said lamely, figuring that was as good of a phrase as any to give to him. Wow, he was still doing a lot for her, even though this was the second time they'd ever met, and the first time they got to talk without her hissing in anger. Well, for the duration of their time together, anyway. She wasn't hissing at him anymore. Her arms tightened around the book, pulling it closer to her chest.
"...How can I repay you?" She asked softly, her gaze having dropped to the side. Of course she meant for the book, she really had nothing else of his that would cause her to extend the offer.

"Yeah. I do a bunch of weird mambo jumbo with crystals and what not, whatever makes people feel better," it was within reason of course, "then they pay me and leave, it gives me money to fund my research," Izaak explained though she didn't exactly invite him to do so. He just liked talking; he was a talkative kind of guy, if given a chance he'll talk the whole time about things both pointless and meaningful. Izaak didn't like the sound of his own voice but he did like company. He liked it a lot.
Izaak gave a small humble grunt, "Er, thanks..." he replied unable to figure out how to respond to the 'that's nice'.
How can she repay him? He had never thought of the prospect of making her repay him for anything at all but it seemed like that she probably would insist on it or at least bring it up again for something else at some point so he decided to n** it in the butt, "Let me hire you as my research assistant," he said simply as he moved along with her, total seriousness in his voice.

It still baffled her that despite his condition he could touch living creatures and keep them alive. She certainly could not do that, by any stretch of the imagination. "Don't read too much into this, but I admire that." She couldn't let him get a big head over it or anything...she still didn't like him. He still managed to irk her, despite his kindness. It was probably because she was never good at letting things go.
His proposition made her stop in her tracks again. "Are you crazy?" He wanted to hire her? Despite her dislike of him? "I don't think I'd do you any good." She said, equally as serious. Books she could handle, but if it involved talking to someone, or entering a building...she was screwed. They both were.

"I'll try not to," he said simply in assurance. Izaak made no promises but it wasn't like he behaved as if she had just told him that he was the best lover she ever had or anything of the sort. He just took it as a round about compliment that she gruffly gave him and decided to not make a major deal out of it. Izaak reached up to toy at the strap of his messenger bag as he walked along with her until she suddenly stopped and he paused next to her and stared at her through heavily lidded eyes.
He gave a small laugh and shook his head, "Not crazy," not that the crazy ones ever admitted to their insanity even if confronted with it in the first place. Izaak toyed at the strap of his messenger bag again and chuckled a bit, "You can read, you can write, you can help me." It seemed all he expected out of her assistance is to be able to scribble a few notes and read a few books here and there and that was about it. He'd invite her into buildings and he'd talk to people, all he wanted from her was to help him research. "I mean if you're really against it..."

Sally pressed her lips together with a narrowed gaze, fighting the urge to say 'Are so' to his insistance that he WASN'T crazy. He most certainly was! Managing to fight the urge back, her sickly red gaze moved down to the book still hugged tightly against her chest, considering his offer still. He was insisting, and from what he was saying he didn't really expect much out of her at all...which was more than doable.
"No it's not that!" Sally assured him - maybe a little too loudly and eagerly - her gaze snapping to his face for a moment. "It's just...It's not easy for me to...move." She slept in a bathtub filled with blood, after all...and then there was Nosferatu to consider, and Other. "I have a friend here, and then there's the boy...and my sleeping, um, arrangements..." From what little she knew about folklorists or researchers was that they tended to move where ever the information was. THAT would be tough on her. But she was cracking, her hard shell falling apart for this chance at doing something with her damned eternity. "Would we be moving around a lot?"

Even if she insisted he'd have insisted that he was completely sane. One-hundred-and-one percent sane. Yep!
He listened to her complaints quietly and nodded a bit, "Well, it'll be a while until I have to move from here all things considered. This place still has quite a wellspring of information for me to pursue," he pointed out quietly, "even if we ended up needing to change venues I'd arrange everything for you if you wanted me to," he assured her quietly, "as for your friend and that boy, I'd make sure you will have ways to stay in contact with them or at least make sure you won't have to stay away from them long." Izaak shrugged his shoulders a bit.
"It is just an offer that came to me off the top of my head you don't have to take the first thing I sprout out..." Though it'd be a little beyond him to come up with anything just as good for the moment.

Sally listened to his proposals quietly; he certainly did cover all of her questions. As much as she liked to say she had no attachments she most certainly did. But...they all had someone else, and as much as she didn't want to admit it they probably wouldn't miss her too much. Other had Val, as much as she hated the man, he certainly did make Other happy and besides...if there was a way to keep in touch then there was a way to hunt him down if something ever happened to her precious Other. Nosferatu was a bit of a problem though; she took care of him at night, but if they were here for a while there had to be SOME way she could convince him to not go out at night anymore, once she was gone...
"Don't be stupid, you idiot." Sally chided in a harsher tone than she intended. "It's a good one." She assured him, shifting her weight onto one leg in a rather stubborn pose. "If you think you can put up with me, I accept." It was a job she wasn't worried about losing; wasn't like she needed money for a living, so she had no reason to keep a word filter on.

He laughed when she chided him and called him an idiot. It amused him that she was so stubborn and mouthy and seemed willing to essentially put him in his place, wherever that was. Izaak flopped his hands to his sides with a smile, "I haven't run screaming from you yet," he informed her cheerfully, "you're 'hired' then," Izaak informed her with a small grin as he started walking again.
"I guess I'll leave you alone for now, it's getting pretty ... late." Izaak said thoughtfully as he shifted his shoulders as much as he wanted to start working on things right away and he had very much been distracted from his prior goal of getting research done ... There was always tomorrow, plus she probably had her fill of him.

"If you haven't yet, you probably never will. Masochist." She said sharply, having gotten over her squishy-touched feeling and was hardening up again. When he mentioned how late it was she looked up, observing the sky. Why yes, it was getting late...she should be going home soon. But...
"Do you need to know where I live?" She asked wearily. If she worked for him now, they couldn't make a habit of just running into each other now could they? It was unprofessional and inconvenient.

"Heh, that's me I guess," He said quietly and pointed his fingertips together thoughtfully as he watched her through his odd gaze for a long moment. It seemed a little too easy to expect her home address or to know where she lived. He had just gotten her friendship in lieu of her forgiving him and all that and it seemed a bit much to have her tell him where she lived, professional reasons aside. He took out a card with the address of the library he'd been frequenting from one of the smaller pockets of his messenger bag and offered it to her.
"Meet me outside of there and I'll get you in," he said as a way to step around the issue. Izaak was simply trying to show Sally that he respected her privacy at least a little bit, enough to let her have her haven to herself for at least a little bit longer.

"It is." Sally confirmed, staring at him while waiting for an answer about her home. She watched curiously as he looked for something in his bag, then took the offered card. Sickly eyes looked over it, then tucked it carefully into the book he had lent her. It was good that he did this instead - she really wasn't comfortable with ANYONE knowing where she lived. Other and Nosferatu didn't even know...she always just appeared when she wanted to. "I will be there." She informed him, already turning away from him.
"Have a good night." With her farewell in place, she waved and walked away hurriedly, as fast as her inherited speed would take her. Dawn was approaching and she needed to get home as soon as possible.

He smiled and nodded, "I look forward to working with you, Sally. Good night~." he said airily as he moved to walk the opposite direction toward where his own home laid, at least round about where it was. As long as he could 'sense' where the dirt of his grave was he could always find home and he wasn't ever worried about getting lost. It was a little odd but he really didn't think about it too much anymore. It had become natural to him and something that simply accepted now.
Izaak wondered if he really was a masochist or if perhaps Sally wasn't as bad as she made herself out to be....He leaned toward the latter.
