I was raised Christian, and when my mother wasn't going through bad patches I went to church.

Slightly different, yet still similar, to the people in this thread whose beliefs changed due to an interest in science, mine changed because of an interest in fictional media. I read a lot of books, and discussed them with my mother. I really enjoyed, and still do enjoy, thinking of alternate interpretations for everything I read; and then it clicked. Something in my mind just decided that it couldn't just take the interpretations of the Bible stories read in Sunday School as fact, and that was it really.

I went to church still until I moved to live with my grandma, when I stopped. That's pretty much it. I think that maybe there's a possibility there's a god, but I also think that everything could have been created by a huge cosmic accident. Even if I did believe a higher power existed, I doubt I would be able to decide which faith is 'right'

I was born in Communist China where the official state religion was Atheism. As a kid someone gave me a Bible and I thought it made a lot of sense in a metaphorical way, so I decided I liked Genesis; sadly, I found out that Judaism was a bit of an exclusive club and found myself at a church for one reason or another so I dabbled in Christianity for a while. I still go to church. I like worship music.

I don't believe in the Bible, literally, though I think there are interesting metaphorical bits. (Think Jungian archetypes?) I like organized religion. I think for the most part, religion does for believers what therapy does for $100/hour. I mean, sure, religion is a crutch and God is dead, but I don't think that there's anything wrong with people who are too weak to not use crutches; sometimes, life is hard and you can't ask anything more of people. I'm an agnostic myself. I guess I find it easy to distance myself from religion coming from an atheistic background; to me religions are rituals and stories and explanations to make life easier for people, and sometimes I find it beautiful.
