I'm having a hard time believing it myself, but it all adds up. Look at these maps.

Gaia:
Spira resembles the Northern and Eastern continents of Gaia fused together, which is one of the reasons I believe they could be the same world from different times.
In addition, there are words that have similar meaning in each one.
I'll put these words in a format of Spira/Gaia.
Sphere/Materia
Guado/Cetra
Pyreflies/Spirit energy
Farplane/Lifestream
(If you think of any other terms, feel free to post them.)
Aside from this, there are other things that make them similar, though I'm not sure if I know all of them...

I think that really it isn't really that much of the truth, because I say that It's named similarly but the maps are totally diferent.
I wasn't talking about the names at all, and the land shown on the maps is very similar.
