I got a letter from my uni saying this about my fee increase. Quote: These actions were taken by the Board in response to one of the greatest fiscal emergencies in the history of California. In July the State Legislature and Governor reduced state funding for the California State University system by almost $600 million, or an amount equal to the support traditionally given by the state for instruction of 95,000 students. Faced with this emergency, the Board of Trustees and the Chancellor have begun to implement a plan that balances the need to reduce spending with the need to preserve, as much as possible, the quality of the academic program and access to courses and student services. To do this requires something from everyone in the university community. For example, nearly every employee, including the campus presidents and the Chancellor, will be furloughed two days each month for the rest of the academic year. This amounts to a reduction in pay of almost 10 percent. This sacrifice by employees helps avoid, to a significant extent, the degree to which reductions in course offerings and student services will be needed. I am officially ticked enough to want to write a political satire allegory thing about this evil How should I start it and would anyone like to help me write one? PS: I KNEW MY INCREASE WAS HIS FAULT scream

I.... wouldn't know anything about political allegory or how to go about it. Nothing interesting ever happens in Texas. sweatdrop But I could always try to help? My ideas might not be very good, but at least I tried? ^^;;

Hurricanes....always end up killing people, people go missing, power goes out for x amount of time, wind damage, water damage, etc. After the fact, the city works together, offering free MREs, free packages of bottled water, sometimes free generators, on a who needs it most basis. Hospitals get electricity running first, while some parts of the city take up to 2 weeks to get electricity. Some grocery stores are open, there are long lines, some people work for free. Schools get canceled while they undergo repairs, as does most places people work at. Some places have to shut down permanently due to wind/water damage.....
Etc. etc.
Oil, I have no clue, other than we actually ran out in our area 2 years ago due to a hurricane and trucks alongside the road of state troopers were handing out free tanks of gas. confused
OH! And that the oil factories make living in Houston the 4th most likely city to contract some sort of lung cancer just by breathing the air.
