You don't.
You march bass clarinet?
Jeez, and I thought bands were crazy for marching bari sax.
O___o;;
I've never seen a band march bass clarinet. Our bass clarinets just march with their B-flat clarinets...

We have a bass clarinet. We don't have a bari sax. Our policy used to be nothing below a tenor sax. but we have a horrible clarinet player who couldn't play any notes in the 3rd clarinet part. So, she's on bass. And, we don't have any bari sax players. the town like, 2 miles away from us has like, 3. it's gay.

We don't march bari. All our sax players are all altos -- our director just says, "You, you, and you, you're on tenor. You, you're on bari." I think during marching season we have like... 26 altos and 6 tenors. Or we did last year.
...how do you not play notes on 3rd clarinet part marching music? That's when you give the person bass part and say "play this on your b-flat."

I don't suck at playing the bass clarinet though D; I got thrid chair in Symphonic band in all-region last year when I was a freshman.... >.> But anyway this question isn't answered still .... D: We also have a bari sax D;

She's horrible. She can't play about an A on clarinet, and that's a pretty standard note to play. She can't play Bb scale, and she barely knows her fingerings at all. And she squeaks all the damn time. That's how.

I march bass clarinet too. :] You hold it out in front of you, at least that's how I've always. You just need to make sure you don't hit it off of your knees. I hope that was helpful biggrin
