I just realized I can't really play my Viola anymore due to the fact I need to spend all my practice time on practicing the pieces I got from school gonk

You can find time =) I promise! I practice piano for an hour or two everyday, and viola for two hours, and that's not even my orchestra stuff, that's just solo stuff. Orchestra stuff is another hour at least. Like 5 hours a day I'm practicing something. I do cheat a bit, since three of those hours can be done at school, even though I try to get piano done there because I can't just take it home XD. You just gotta set some time away. Instead of figuring out if you can practice/play viola, just figure out when. It doesn't have to be everyday if you need to practice other stuff for school, but you'll lose it if you let it be too long. Even if its just an hour on the weekend, that's better than completely stopping altogether.
All that practice, and i have rheumatoid arthritis. And it hurts. So you can find the time =) Be thankful your joints are healthy, and use them up while you can.

Mizuki Hyuuga School for me started like 4 weeks ago, but we got some pretty decent music going on. Our concert is in like 16 days. D8 Oh, and I finally made first chair!! Yesh, I finally beat that one kid who doesn't even take his instrument home to practice, grr, he always made me so mad. scream So, is everyone else doing? Cool, I have first chair for viola in my school orchestra, too! Lots of kids don't really practice that much. I like to practice a lot. What kind of music are you playing in orchestra? Do you like playing the viola? Violas Rock!

I'm a freshman in hgh school and luckily, I've survived! I was supposed to get a new instructor this year, but my old one transfered schools and now teaches at 3 elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school! Now that's dedicated! I've had this guy since fourth grade. He's a great teacher. He highly encourages people putting in requests for any type of music they want. Some other viola players asked for more modern music. He told us today that we're going to play "Viva La Vida" by coldplay and "Casmir" by Led Zepplin as our modern music. I wonder if the music will be difficult... I HOPE SO!!! Viola sections get the background music which is easy and that bugs me. I like it when violas are in the spotlight and playng something challenging that will make everyone's eyes go wide. smile

They should want to sound good. But they don't. I don't know if this is common everywhere, but I'm currently in ninth grade, and since sixth grade, I've noticed that the second violins are always the worst section. Is that true where you are too?
