i am going kayaking up in the park
where i shall meet heron and beavers and such
but no porpoises, alas!
we were just on Mount Desert island in Maine and kayaked in the sea; porpoises bobbed and dove around us!
it was amazing!
but it's such a long trip, we won't get to do that very often.

Lucky duck!!
I saw a dugoung on my last holiday but it's been ages since I've seen dolphins and I don't think I've ever got so close as that! I love how playful they are. heart

well i got back from the mountain lake, and sure enough it was filled with beavers.
their work had raised the level of the lake so it was easier to get back into the far marshy corners.
but they did not like being nosed around! they smacked their tails, and jumped noisily into the water, and eventually came right up to the kayak and bumped it with their heads, and hissed!
i have never seen a dugoung; i would love to, but they seem to prefer warmer water than what we have around here.

You make beavers sound scary. >.> But then, I ran away from a duck once when it got mad at me... xd I think dugoungs are endangered. I know you have manatees up there, but I don't know whether you have dugoungs too.

I know Florida has a "large" population of manatees, and other states have some, too... I just don't know which. sweatdrop I've, of course, never seen a dugoung.
Animals, like people, tend to get mean when things get too close to their babies. People just don't get as mean.

we may hiss, but we never smack our tails.
