Yo, wow haven't posted in here in awhile. I miss this guild.

Anyways, I marched this year with Revolution (this was my first year ever participating in Drum Corps) and let me tell you, it's pretty awesome. It'll probably be one of the HARDEST things you'll ever do in your entire life but man it's so worth it all. Can't say I loved every minute of it but there were some parts I really enjoyed. We ended up getting 6th but we were the only Open Class corps to have a demanding show. Ours was the hardest by far and I'm glad we were able to pull it off. And Memphis Sound will no longer be their name, they will be known as "Forte" and they do not reside in Memphis, Tennessee (sp?) anymore, I think they're in Dallas, Texas. Somewhere in there.

I think the Open Class and World Class titles are sooo much better because no offense Div II and Div III were pretty much pointless. If you round them all up together it makes for greater competition and takes away some confusions.

Um, we got to go watch the World Class Finals live so I was actually there, pretty badass. Lucas Oil Stadium, I LOVE that place! Amaaaaaaazing~ My favorite shows definately have to be Carolina Crown, Bluecoats (Imagine was SOO much better than the San Antonio show, they really made it better), Cadets (when they were trooping out onto the field I started freaking out how high their toe height was! Ugh, amazing!! Especially the beginning and the jazz running company front, now that was some tight stuff right there!), Boston Crusaders (hahahahhaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!! Great show, I really liked the music), Santa Clara Vanguard (Oh...my..gosh, I got chills when they did "Simple Gifts" at the company front, ugh, amazing).

No offense, both Blue Devils A (world Class corps) and Blue Devils B (Open Class) were really great corps but their shows were...just..ew. Really not good at all, I think if anyone should've won the World Class title it should've been Carolina Crown OR Cadets. Both were crazy clean (including Santa Clara Vanguard, I really hope they won the Visual Caption, they were the cleanest by far) and their shows were...so much better really. BDA hardly did anything, I didn't care too much at all for their show but what's done is done, no use arguing about it. But both corps deserve that title for all their hardwork, BDB was clean as heck given that they had one of the easiest shows ever and they didn't even push past 160bpm but they were clean as well and their brass line was very good so congrats to them.

But yeah you don't have to add an 's at the end of Corps because it's already in it's plural form. You could pronounce it as "Core" or "Cores", easy as pie really. No worries I had that problem too earlier on. Hahaha!

But Revolution is a really good corps in my honest opinion, I would not march for anyone else but them (when it comes to Open Class) and we really did hit a milestone in our 10th anniversary season. Whether I realized it or not, we have gained a loooot of notice and recognition and I think next year will be even better. The show is actually going to be pretty cool so I would check them out next year. I may or may not go back, but I do plan on marching until I age out (I have 3 years left, WOOH!) but if I do march it'll either be for Revolution or Phantom Regiment but for PR it's money issues and trying to get plane tickets over there, other than that I'll see what I can do.

Though let me tell you guys something, for those of you who are planning on marching at all, you need to start early, start getting money together and after your auditions (if they say "yes" or "Maybe" whatever the outcome may be) get your sponsorship letters ready and start talking to local businesses about DCI because they will help you!!!! Start early, don't start late ok? I had to learn that lesson myself so yeah.

DCI is really cool, it's freaking hard, like...there will be days that you wish you were at home asleep instead of at 8am block. You'll hate waking up every morning at 7am during All Days but in the long run it's definitely worth it. Tour is fun but it's something you have to experience for yourself. Also don't do it if your just doing it to meet people, seriously there are people in there that want to win, people who want to give it their all and put on the best show they can with what they're given.

So yeah, there's my 2 cents. Give it a try, see if you like it.

Very insightful. ^-^ Thank you. I really want to march with a corps, but I'm really worried about how tight money will be once I move out. My boyfriend and I will be moving in together, both going to college which will be new to both of us, and trying to balance our expences (sp! I can't get it! XP) with putting saving away for corps. I have a rough plan, but it will be VERY tight. Very little room for personal savings, nights out/holliday travelling to see family, or emergencies. Does anyone have an idea of AVERAGE fees? The year I looked into Crown they were from 3000-4000.

Idk i would love to do Any type of Drum core but the closet now is the buc's maybe cadets. Crossmen where til they moved sad but one thing beofre i die is im going to go to a DCI Finals. My BD has been there and said its amazing the music can only be explained in that it resanates off your body. something one must experince for themself. My favorite core though would have to be Santa Clara, I fell in love with them after their Phantom of the Opera show. Phantom Regiment's show was pretty decent with SPartacus and this year's Red Violin. I still think Vanguard outplays them musically at times. Both are really good cores.

I have to heartily disagree. I preferred Div I, II, and III. I liked that each one had their own finals. It'd DCI saving money smushing them together and just showing they care about I more. I didn't see your show but there were many demanding II/III shows. My fav was citations. That colorguard deserved that title. For Div I I thought cadets should have at least got 2nd. Crown needed to be in the lower region. Not near their best stuff.

I volunteered at a DCI show this summer, and I loved it! I absolutely want to do it. But, unfortunately, I play the piccolo in marching band. Time for me to start learning the trumpet! That's what I want to do!

Citations drill was sooo easy
My highschool could march it, and they can barely even handle standing still

Eh, I dunno, I'm just glad I got to march a show that was actually difficult. Next year it'll only get harder though. Sponsorships are the way to goooo! Talk to people, tell them about Drum Corps and how much it means to you and why you enjoy it so much! I'll try and get some sites that help people get sponsorships.

I love DCI, I went to the DCI finals this year, and I know some guys from the Blue Coats, I went to school with one of them and got introduced to the others.

I LIKE BLUE DEVILS!!! one of my best friends is in the B corps and she's gonna try out for A corps, and its really funny because our band director also does renegades (idk what it is), and he keeps saying "and i DON'T CARE that you got a RING!" (they got purple rings for being undefeated...)

and then i met a cousin i didn't know i had from illinois, and i asked him if he knew who they were...and then he was jealous because i was friends with people in it... smile
