Nodding, he led the other in what he felt was the right direction to the river... after several minutes, they were lucky enough that the sound of running water reached their ears. It was a particular spot that Simon had an easy time recognizing. Unfortunately, besides the gentle flowing of the river the place was still and untouched except for the odd insect that flew in front of their faces.
Following it up to the waterfall yielded no sign of Annabel, and the lake did nothing to unveil the mystery either.
"W-well, she's n-n-n-not here..." he fretted, a hopeless look on his face. This was the only part of the forest he knew well enough to effectively search. If he kept looking elsewhere he might end up getting himself lost, or completely overlooking any sign of his friend.
Turning to face Noel, he asked, "But... there's c-cameras everywhere, right? S-s-s-so if something bad r-really happened, someone w-w-would come find her and get her to s-safety, right?"
Oh, how he wished he could believe that, knowing who she might have run into during her absence...

Noel followed Simon to the sound of flowing water. When they reached the spot there was nothing but more nature and no Anneh. Crud, this could be bad.
Noel wasn't sure if camera's would really make a difference in safety with demon deer on the loose. Keep in mind Noel had never come face to face with a deer. But he had seen bambi and that was enough to make the young mod never trust deers ever.
"Maybe?" He couldn't lie but he couldn't say no at the same time. Noel didn't want to see Simon break down right now so he kept the rest of his demon deer thoughts and conspiracy theories to him self.
"We could go a little further... " He walked up to the water and stopped, catching a glimpse of his reflection. At first he didn't think it was him but oh my god. Red line across his face. Tears welded up behind his eyes. Was that really him? He was lucky it didn't break his nose but the tears had already started.
Turning back to Simon it was clear he was crying in soft sobs.

The 'maybe' was enough for Simon's mood to darken even more. He had half a mind to rush out and check the infirmary just in case, but a deep, fearful part of him was sure that he'd find nobody there either.
He really didn't want to go any further. If they did, would they even find anything? For all he knew Annabel might have gone somewhere somewhere better concealed than the tame parts of the forest, seeing as she'd gone to return the host's shirt. True, she might have just dropped it off somewhere there were bound to be a lot of cameras looking at it... but then that made the fact that she'd never returned make no sense.
Simon turned to answer the mod, only to find... oh no...
"Noel, c-come on..."
He slowly closed the gap between them, reaching out a hand to give what could have been a reassuring pat on the shoulder if seeing him start to cry wasn't making him unravel faster than he was a second ago.
"D-d-don't... d-don't c-c-c-c--"
Too late, the LARPer was turning into a mess of tears too.

Seeing Simon break down and cry made the mod start to cry harder. He reached out to Simon and hugged him so tightly.
"I-I-I'm sor-sorry m-mate." He wailed. Seriously he hadn't meant to break down in tears and now Simon was in tears and oh god the hugs! Noel whipped his eyes on his sleeve. Normally he wouldn't have done that because it messes with the fabric but since someone had replaced all his outfits with the same one he didn't care anymore.
"It'll be alright. It'll be alright," He found him self saying over and over again as he hugged tighter. Really he wasn't sure if he was trying to assure him self or Simon at this point. The water show just had no end to it. God damn it his eyes were going to be puffy later.
Damn it.
"I'll be alright It'll be alright," He snorted his nose in his sleeve. Ick. But he needed too. The mod released Simon and took his jacket off handing it to him, still sobbing. "He-here use this."

Out of some misguided desire for something. anything to be a source of comfort to him, Simon didn't resist the hug. Even worse (or better, depending on who might be watching), he actually reciprocated for the moments it lasted, bawling like a schoolgirl who just spilled tomato sauce on her favorite blouse.
"N-n-n-no, it's fine, it's fine," Simon whiningly croaked, sniffling. He accepted Noel's jacket without a second thought, all but burying his face in it to wipe the tear-stains off.
Yes, he was cleaning himself off, and definitely not throwing a few more shaky sobs into it. Not at all.
When he returned the jacket his glasses had gotten even splotchier than they already were, getting to the point where it was starting to mess with his vision. He didn't seem to care.

Noel excepted his jacket back but did not put it back on. The fabric was all wet and soggy with all sorts of tears and snot and tears and no. Ah well, he had plenty of these stupid jackets back at his cabin. The mod would be sure to burn all of them when he got back to London. Honestly, he could go a while with out looking at a British flag after this trip.
Putting one hand on Simons shoulder, his nose still dripping and his face still wet, he patted the Larpers shoulder. "Don't worry man. We'll get through this. " Sniffle, "Love is a battle field after all and I won't leave a man behind . DAMN IT."
Yeah, some how it just wasn't manly with his tear stained cheeks. No . No it so wasn't manly at all.

"Thanks, Noel..."
Despite everything, Simon was able to decide that he liked this guy. A little loopy, yes, and a bit too concerned with his looks, definitely, but that didn't do anything to change the fact that he was still nice. He'd come out here to help him look for Annabel after all, and wasn't saying anything to judge him during the search.
He'd like to meet up with him later and have a nice chat or something, when they weren't dealing with crisis situations and in a better mood.
And even though he'd look back on it uncomfortably later, that cry had done him some good. His mind felt a little clearer now to put together a better course of action even if he was still worried to all hell about Annabel. "H-hey, m-m-maybe it might be better to split up... y-you know... c-c-covering more ground and all."

Noel wiped his eye again and nodded. "Go this way and I'll head that way." Noel pointed in two random directions. The two needed to find Annabel though if there was anything left of her that was. If she was still alive they needed to hurry. Curse this boys obsession with demon deers.
He sniffled again, "Loves a battle field Simon. Some song from the eighties taught me that. Now run , run Simon!" He wiped his eyes and sniffed again setting off in the random direction he had determined for him self.
