the only reason Anakin was the chosen one is because of his so many midiclorians (power in inner self). Since Luke had the midiclorians of his father, so he had the potential to be the chosen one too. Leia also, but for some reason (in the books) Leia payed more attention to her sons than becoming a jedi. So Luke had the DNA of the chosen one

Anakin, he is the one who in the end brought balance to the force.

Jacob_the_cat Personally, I think the title/job is split between the two of them. Qui-Gon based his assumption that Anakin was the chosen one 'cause Anakin had MASSIVE force potential. Reasonable assumption. Anakin also (en route to Darth Vaderism) eleminated the Jedi and their strangle hold on the force at the time. Thing is, if Luke hadn't come along with the whole 'I'm still a Jedi' deal, Vader wouldn't have been Anakin ever again. Even though he'd have eventually killed the Emperor regardless, the Empire would persist with Vader as the new emperor. No jedi, just dark side/sith. The dark side would've soon snuffed out the last remaining traces of the 'good side' of the Force. But Luke did come around and turned Vader around, and he (eventually) rebuilt the Jedi order with more flexible teachings. He finished the job Anakin started. Not true, as long as there are sith there will be jedi. They are two sides of the same coin. One cannot exist without the other. We all know how the dark side always comes back no matter how many times it is destroyed, same would happen with the light side.

I agree with the people who say that the dark side/light side will always exist, because "there is no light without shadow," therefore there will always be Sith and Jedi. I believe Anakin is the Chosen One in the prophecy, but he did have help. He also sired the line of Jedi/Sith who continue to "bring balance to the Force," so his descendants are also part of the prophecy.
