I hate Gaia and every other website that wants people to buy fake things.
Neopets does it.... buy rare items with real money!
I know that they have to pay their artists and webrunners,
But I just think its a little greedy... and sad.
Because people actually DO buy fake money.
Do you?

I do, but I don't see it as "sad" nor do I see it as necessarily simply fake money. It is a system whereby you can purchase entertainment. Yes they are pixels, but it is entertainment, just like buying a song (which is really just waves) or a game (really it's just 1's and 0's).
There are many, many retailers that use their own currency system. Nintendo has WiiPoints, Microsoft has MicrosoftPoints, Sony has their PSN Wallet (even though it's listed as dollars, the idea is exactly the same).
The prevalence of cash items on Gaia however I think has gotten out of hand. I think they should focus more on pure gold items.

I can see your point as it's a form of entertainment, but I Gaia doesn't sell me on it. I dunno.... I guess I'm not really on this site as much as I use to be.. I don't really care for it. But yes. It has gotten a little out of hand. They keep coming up with different things to sell and they are all the same. This new one is a Star that can give you rare items, but it's just a gimmick. Maybe if I had the money, I would care a little more.

I try to control myself, I only buy it if I KNOW the MCs or EI's are WORTH investing in, the last EI I bought though was the Alruna I think, and I've been finding means to buy the others without Gaia Cash. I rarely spend more then $5 at a time, and that's usually like once every two months, although I haven't bought cash for like almost half a year now.
Either way, like Crim said, it's a way to amuse myself with and I agree that this cash thing is getting a little outta hand :/

I buy some every once in awhile to mostly get new EI's that come out. I feel the same as Crim; I find it a form of entertainment, but I'm growing very tired of how many GC-based items are coming out as well.

It's such a ripoff in my opinion. I'll get myself cash by selling art commissions, but i'd never actually buy it DX

I started buy cash mostly to help out the site ay back when it was only monthly collectibles. But the gimicks are insulting, expically whan all the good items are chas now days.
I didn't mind the first eI's but they release too many to close together now.

I do from time to time, like I'd get a $25 giftcard every few months, but as of late I'm thinking of stoping it.
everything is getting way way WAY out of hand, and the site is getting too money oriented to want to really talk on anymore. Items are all people want anymore, and it's quite sad there. yes I know it's a form of entertainment, but when was it part of the site to blow all your money on items just to turn around and sell for gold to rebuy said items?
Rather annoying.
