02.02 Oceanside: Allende & Saeryan Celeanor
It was not unusual for a candidate to be assigned a particular set of chores once they had proven capable and responsible. When it came to things like sewing, handling special laundry items, cooking, and cleaning ranking rider weyrs and public areas... trustworthy workers were usually sought out and groomed for their jobs. The myriad other tasks were better off being rotated out, or at least, that was how it was supposed to be. No one person wanted to consistently clean the latrines, for instance, and certainly no one wanted to be assigned the onerous task of emptying and restocking the bin for rags and clean towels kept stocked by the waterfall/lake area for dragonriders who bathed their dragons there. Rotation made sure the job got done, rather then tossed to the wayside by youngsters who felt much put upon for drawing the same smelly chore over and over...
...and Alle would know how the last felt!
Three times in the past few sevenday she had been assigned the task of emptying that dratted bin by the water, and each time she had muddled through it with a sore back and aching arms to look forward too. Today was going to be no different, though early estimates showed some promise in the arm department. Maybe she was getting a little stronger?
Whatever the case was, Allende was just getting back to the waterside with a basket full of clean linens when she noticed quite a few of the newest Weyrlings were out and about. Lunch had come and gone for her hours ago, and while she wasn't exactly hungry (in the food sense) she had missed the chance to socialize a bit. Still, she wasn't entirely comfortable with the idea of striking up a conversation with people she didn't know, especially with those with which she had so little in common; but nor could she ignore the desire to try anyway.
Sharding indecision!
