"No doubt," Faolan agreed, nodding. "I knew I shoulda killed that a** when he was here at Farstep." He had a dark look then, considering if he shouldn't just hunt the man down and be rid of him once and for all. Looking down at her belly and feeling the twins kicking, he sighed. "Think they're doin' this so much 'cause they know you're upset and are reactin' to it?"

"No, I don't think so," Ellandra said thoughtfully, then squeaked and -without urging, for once- tugged her shirt up so Faolan could see a tiny foot outlined on her belly. "I think they've been trying to do that for you."

Faolan's expression softened instantly at the sight of the tiny foot pressed against his wife's belly. He leaned down and kissed her stomach. "They're gonna come out dancin' as active as they are, yeah?"

"Dancing, running. . .something out of the ordinary, I'm sure," Ellandra said, relaxing a bit herself now that she'd finally allowed herself to vent all her pent up emotions - or at least most of them.

"My vote is cartwheels," Faolan laughed, pulling back as one of the twins kicked. He looked up at her, concern still showing some in his eyes. "Anythin' else you feel like sharin' with me? You still got that look a bit."

"You'll think it's silly," Ellandra said quietly and paused for a long moment. At last, however, she decided to continue because she really did need to talk to Faolan about what was bothering her. Not talking about it certainly hadn't done any good after all. "Well. . . I suppose it's somewhat related to that. . . competing idea you mentioned earlier, but it still worries me that . . ." She paused again, just to collect her thoughts this time, and continued, "Well, Lee and I are so very similar. . . I suppose I'm afraid you see both that and the adavntages she has over me -" - like being actually pretty instead of having an unruly curly mop of hair and too many freckles - "- and realize you made a mistake in picking me at all. . ."

"Well, lover, I chose you afore I knew her an' it ain't like I'm pickin' one o'er the other," Fao sighed, trying to sort out how to word it right. "Besides, I didnae exactly pick you, you know. We're joined at the soul. That's somethin' that Lee cannae e'er share with me or any other man can e'er share with you, lass. It ain't about choice or advantages--why would you even think a silly thing like that?--it's about how I feel for you an' how connected you an' me are. Fate brought us together and the universe bound us to each other. Ain't a thing in this world or the next e'er gonna change that, second wife or not."

"I told you it was silly," Ellandra said quietly, ducking her head a bit and chewing her lip while her face flushed with shame.

"Aye, it's silly, but I'm glad you told me," Faolan said, scooting closer to her. "Help any at all on quellin' your fears?" He dipped his head down to nuzzle and kiss along her neck. "Or perhaps I need to give you more convincin' yeah?"

Ellandra melted on the spot. "More convincing sounds. . . . . . good. . . ."

Faolan made no other answer than soft noises in the back of his throat, continuing to nuzzle and kiss Ellandra's neck, one hand resting on her belly.

Ellandra mumbled somethat that was both vague and mostly incoherent, and melted just a little more. All disheartening thoughts fled from her mind - in fact, most thoughts in general fled.
