The tuba is the greatest and best instrument.

Girl Tubas = AWESOME! I am one of 7 tubas in my school. I am the only girl.

Com'on guys. There is a limit to how long farting is funny. Really.

Haha. I totally remember learning how to play the tuba back in 7th grade. I was a tromboner at the time and my BD needed lower brass so I went for tuba. I remember after the first after-school lesson, I stood up and then fell back down into a different chair because I was so light-headed. Good times.

I'm the only girl tuba in my school as well. I think I'm the second girl tuba ever. I met the first one at a restaurant. My grandpa started to talk to her and when I came back in from parking the car he was all "this young lady went to Grandville too and was in marching band" and such. She asked me what instrument I played and I said tuba and she was all "ohemgee! me too!" Yeah.

But I'm gonna pwn this next chair test round. Next week Friday is when the low brass go. I'm gonna kick all the other guys' asses. All four of them. All your chair are belong to me, bish.

I'm like the only girl tuba in my school too. Then again there is only two of us me and my b/f. But yea being light headed is part of the job during my lessons today i was like ohemgee its a feeling that never goes away lightheadness sucks though the BD was like hey lightheadness feels good just go with it.

Heh... I just was informed by my BD that my "tuba has arrived"... xd

My school has one other tuba, but I believe it's a senior - and of course, considering that I'm starting all over again with a new instrument from the "beggining band", I'll be playing... in a bunch of different groups over the years.

This is going to be interesting... sweatdrop

Yeah. Tons of air. Do lung-expansion exersizes.

And pay homage to the tuba! Love the tuba. Play the tuba. BE THE TUBA!

Lung expansion exersizes?

I guess I'm in for a treat aren't I? And I'm starting in only around two weeks now... *glances at calander*

Fun stuff...

ok so here's some advice. for the lung expansion excercises i found that if you breath in air until your lungs are insanely full and then bring your knees into your chest and hold it for about 30 seconds your lungs stretch really well. and for the sousaphone, dont worry about it after about the first three weeks your shoulder will have like a beasty muscle on it and you will barely even feel your sousaphone....seriously my left shoulder is noticibly broader tham my right shoulder.

AND WHO DOESN't LOVE THEIR SOUSIES OR TUBAS? THERE TOO AWESOME NOT TO LOVE

My family says they wouldnt be able to spot me on the field if it werent for my sousaphone! haha. I kinda like being the only girl tuba player in the school.

I would like being the only one but I don't know i think the sound of two or more sousies is more...'rounded' ya know? so yeah i'm proud to be part of a sousie line with 8 sousies. but hey i woulnd't mind being the only one cause you would have a constant solo....but i bet its hard for you cuz yeah you probably have to time your breaths perfectly don't you? i dont think i could do that...i would be huffin and puffin by the end of my show.

Ha o breathing excerises ALOT and u need way more air and it is about 50 pounds(mine is) u WILL run into people in marching band because i always hit someone with my bell and they bleed lol, u need quick foot work(if in marching band) this is my 5th year playing tuba and i am in 8th grade and my quality is better than a profesional tuba player if u want to get this good than u need to practice ALOT, memorize your music and try to watch out for crescendo's and decrescendo's

their r 8 tuba's in my schol's marching band and we make up nice round sound and the power

my first week of band camp turned my right shoulder purple and i was in pain because i was to little but you will get used to have a tuba/sosaphone on your shoulder
