My agent sent me this hotsheet to fill out for the manuscript database. And I have no idea if I'm doing this right. I'm hung up on two things, the Synopsis and the Author's Bio. Can you tell me what you think and what I can include in my bio?

Synopsis (Less than 200 words):

Naveshk may not have had the strongest sword arm, but in a battle of wits, he would never loose. He was next in line for the goblin throne, and planned to bring about a new order of productivity and honestly-won wealth for his race. Then a rival snatched the crown by way of murder and forced Naveshk into exile. Naveshk turned his attention from scholarly ambitions and set out to prevent the crimes of his goblin brothers. But before his plans can even start to take shape, he runs into the two darkest figures from goblin legend, the feared Goblin Hunters.

Lorn and Tokori have made a living out of their long standing grudge against goblins. Their skill at dispatching the nasty pests is known far and wide. But the goblins are acting strange. They're banding together and attacking in coordinated groups with new and strange weapons. There are rumors of a king leading a goblin army to battle against the other realms. When the two Hunters ambush a goblin who would rather calculate figures than steal silver, they know something is wrong. But is it the curious mathematician, or the covetous king? And how much profit can the two mercenaries collect before their conscious gets the better of them?

Author Bio (Less than 200 words):

Jamie Holmes lives in Southern California with her husband, daughter, cat, and several aquariums full of fish.

Yes, my Bio is pathetic! that's why I need help!

For the bio, just talk a bit about yourself. Is this your first series, how long you have been writing, were you graduated (if you did, i don't know.) If you have tried a different career path, tell em.

I personally don't know left or right in this kind of stuff, i have never had anything published.

I'm with Mystic here, I have never had anything published and I am not sure exactly how to help. However, what you have in the "Synopsis" seems to be very interesting and I would like to read everything about it. I think Mystic is on to something with the bio. I'd mention more things about myself, especially education-wise. 3nodding

when i got published in the newspaper a few years back they just wanted a biography of how long I wrote for my inspirations basically like you were reading someones biography in a book where it says about the author. As for synopsis I just gave a paragraph or summary of what my article was about.

Just a little bit of editing work here, purely for tense, homonyms, and near-homonyms.

Appearances are everything. ^_^

Purely on opinion, though, the synopsis is a little flat. There aren't many action words. It's sort of like "this happens and then that happens and then this other thing happens." You might consider doing something more along the lines of "this happens, sparking this to happen when suddenly, this other thing happens."

I don't know if that made any sense or not. But more along the lines of punching it up a little bit, if you get my meaning.

Thanks! That is actually very helpful! (I'd wondered why it didn't sound right, but for some reason I couldn't figure it out on my own.) ^_^

Wow! I never even considered some of the things Berz pointed out. I wonder if she's a professional editor... neutral
I'm glad someone was able to help more than I possibly could. 3nodding
