They had been dropped off, given their house keys, and left to do what they wanted around the island. That meant Jason put his things away, plugged in his laptop, and let it charge. He had used up all of the juice during the layover of the plane.
He stood, adjusting his glasses and heading out to look around the island. It was like nothing he had ever seen before, and he suddenly cursed himself for not bringing a camera.
It smelled like salt water and fish. The ground under his feet had sand in patches, with grass mixed in. A bird that he couldn't name for the life of him laughed overhead.
"Damn me for forgetting a camera," he muttered as he looked up at the crystal blue sky. "Ma would have loved to see this."

Izzy set her bags down in the room she had claimed for herself and looked around. The room was simple, but nice looking and functional.
She dug her laptop out from the bottom of her backpack to make sure it hadn't gotten wet or anything from the boat ride, then set it on the nightstand next to the bed. Personally she was a fan of writing things instead of typing them, but that didn't fly at work. She carried a small messenger bag with her at all times, used as a purse, and a portable writing station. It contained a notebook, several pens and pencils, a highlighter, and a small dictionary/thesaurus, along with the usual purse things. She took her little digital camera from her backpack and plopped it in with the rest of her things, and started back out the door, intent on exploring the island and hopefully getting some good inspiration.
She headed back towards the beach area and took off her sandals to walk in the water. Before this week she had never before seen the ocean, and the way the sand washed out from under her feet with the waves amused her to no end, and she stood on the shoreline for several minutes, just watching the tide.
"I could get used to this." She said with a peaceful smile.

((OOC: Okay so Ian's supposed to get there a day later than everyone else... so I'm just going to pretend like this is the next day... >.> Someone tell me if they mind.))
The island was beautiful, on the same level as those impossibly lovely pictures from travel brochures. This was obviously where they came to snap those photos. He couldn't stop grinning as he pulled/dragged his luggage up into the house he'd been given access to. Apparently all the other writers had made it to the island before hand so he wasn't sure who exactly he'd be living with. Ah, well, it didn't actually matter as he was sure he'd make nice with them whoever they were.
"Hello..." he called out quietly as he let himself into the place with his key. It was a cozy enough place with all the standard amenities. If luck was on his side he'd be able to get his laptop set up in his room, wherever that was, and let his parents know that he'd made it safely. They'd, of course, been so concerned with his choice to come to the workshop. You'd think after 32 years they'd be used to him doing his own thing. He loved them anyway, despite their familial challenges.
He poked around the home a bit more, discovering that someone had already claimed one of the rooms. Wondering what type of roommate he'd have, Ian made his way to the second room and set down his laptop bag and guitar on the bed. Deciding to be lazy, he stowed his suitcase in the corner of the bedroom and his amp in another. He'd have time to rearrange later. Now it was time to go out and get a glimpse of the place he'd be calling home for a while. Pulling his zune out of his laptop bag, he plugged one of the earbuds into his right, the less pierced, ear.
Turning it on random he walked out of the house to some Apocalyptica jamming in his head. He'd just walk and see what he'd find.

He found himself heading towards the first cabin, walking along the beach slowly. It was hard to walk on the sand, he thought, and it kept getting into his tennis shoes. After a moment Jason pulled to a stop to take his socks and shoes off.
Then he noticed the lady standing on the beach. He hesitated for a moment before waving and calling out to her. "Hi! Um, we came on the boat together!" He sped up to get to her. "I'm, uh, Jason, Jason Hughes."

Izzy had been kneeling down in the sand, studying the various shells and sand dollars laying about when she heard Jason call out. She turned to the sound of his voice and returned the wave with a bright smile, then stood up and brushed the sand off her legs. "Hey, whats up? Isn't this place gorgeous?"

"Yeah, yeah it is," he said, looking around. "I don't think I've ever seen this much sunshine in my life." Which was his own damn fault, but he wasn't going to mention that fact. "So did they give you some sort of schedule? You know, when the writing seminars will take place? I didn't ah, really see one in my room, but I might not have been looking very well."

Eventually Ian had shut off his Zune. He just wanted to continue his trek along the beach in peace. It was so nice there on the island. A real peaceful atmosphere, much different from most of the places he'd had the pleasure of staying at. Here there were no rumblings of a tour van or the loud clangs of a stage being set. He was even pleased that it was void of the sound of instruments being tuned. Despite that being one of his favorite noises. Perhaps this was the recharge his life needed after seeing the magazine go under.
It almost surprised him to see other people on the island. He hadn't really run into anyone since his arrival. "Hey," he called out as he approached the two, hoping that he wasn't really interrupting anything. "Nice to know that there are actually other people here." He said with a smile.
