to play 12 major scales (two octaves, going up and down) in two minutes?
my teacher said that was our final test, but we never did it.
so i'm thinking he was pulling our nuts.

Yes. If you play it fast enough, it should be easy. It really doesn't take that long to play a scale two octaves.

Me and my band captain (who is also my SL) went to a music camp over the summer, and our trombone instructor played all 12 scales and arpeggios in one minute. So, yes.

We had to play 12 major one octave in one minute in 7th and 8th grade, so it should be possible to double that and double the time.

Yes it is. At my high school, we used to have a contest to see who could play all 12 scales in 60 sec or less. If anyone did it they got their name on a trophy in the trophy case.

*nods* I had to do it all through my high school symphonic/wind ensemble years it is possible its just knowing your scales and the fingering/positions for them, at least for me it was pretty cool being able to run up and down the scales like that..

Our only trophey was an A and our name forever on a plaque outside the band room. I was off by 6 seconds in 8th, didn't get past the terrible middle 3 scales in 7th grade, so I'm not on the plaque. Heh, still got As for effort though!

It is indeed possible. You just have to play it really fast.
