So the Sci Fi channel is changing to the 'SyFy' channel in an attempt to shed the image of being a network catering to geeky types. I actually don't have a problem with them wanting to change names to expand their base (don't think it will work, but go ahead and try, ya brainless TV execs), but couldn't they come up with something less lame sounding? I keep thinking it should be pronounced the 'siffy' channel.

Every time I see it I can't help but think it looks like the first two syllables of "syphilis".

They should have renamed it the Totally Awesome Not Just For Geeks Channel. The Syphilis Channel also sounds pretty good.
Most of the crap they show on Sci-Fi sucks. Especially those made-for-TV movies. I didn't even bother watching Doctor Who since I bought all the DVDs.

Oh, right, I forgot about that. Anyway, it's nice to know this channel is in such capable hands. rolleyes If they go under, I suppose the show could end up on BBC America. Still miss the days of Who on PBS... no commercials (barring the occasional pledge drive). The wrestling is the stupidest stuff they've ever shown. Although some of those movies come REALLY close and then even go over the line of stupidity. Shark Attack 3: Megalodon being the worst. I flipped through and only spent an extra minute on it due to John Barrowman being one of the main characters. It's such an awful movie that apparently there are lines in it that can only be referred to as "that line", on every board I see about bad SF movies.

Doctor_Whatsit Fantasy_of_Strange_Things Funny, that's what FOX did with Firefly. And Firefly got axed before the final episodes aired. AND IT'S AMAZING. *is halfway through the season* Random thought: I want Joss Whedon to pen an episode or two of Doctor Who. That would be amazing.

Um hello, geeks ARE the audience of sci-fi. I have no idea why they have to change their names to syfy. I keep wanting to pronounce it "siffy" lol. But um whatever. I don't pay for my Who anyhow. I get it online after it is released across the pond. about 6 or 7 hours after it airs and someone will have it uploaded. xd
