Crimson Skies is always my first referance for Dieselpunk. I always imagine the Dieselpunk dystopia to be a world of American flyboys vs Russian communists.

Sometimes I just say "Technopunk" for this kind of "take material or theme and add word 'punk'" set-up. I mostly don't nit-pick on most of them; a lot of my Steampunk friends have some diesel outfits, but I mostly define it as "tech-meets-attitude" rather then any specific set of parts.

Personally, I don't draw much of a distinction between the two. If one's interested in Stampunk/Diesel to begin with, then social constructs be damned.

When I'm shopping/searching for the next juicy sewing pattern, I do tend to think of diesel as more of an everyday wardrobe and steam as slightly more con-worthy. Heaven knows where rockabilly will fit in all this

Anticipating the next line, whenever it comes, is this: has anyone tried to mesh regency/romantic era with the presently established victorian/edwardian?
