At least he had relaxed a fraction now, but it really was only a very little, and he was clearly still terrified. This would help though, wouldn't it? Facing your fears made them less in time; he himself could probably get over that thing with water he couldn't see the bottom of if he forced himself to swim in such situations often enough. Wouldn't be a pleasant experience though, definitly not pleasant, not at all... but as he had already thought, it might not ever be any help to the young man. It was possible that he was just pointlessly tormenting him.
As they finished a second circuit of the bowl, R'than patted his lifemate's neck and nudged him to return to the ground. This was probably more than enough for one day. "We're going back down now," he told Goran, "shan't be long."
The brown continued as he had been for a few moments after his rider spoke and then angled his wings down to begin a gentle descent. He, like his rider, hoped that the brief flight had been of some use to the tense candidate; he did not like to think that he had upset someone for no reason.

Down, oh Shards... His heart felt like it was in his throat as he felt the air whipping against the sides of his face, Garith's large body gently easing them down from the skies. Thick hands had again dug themselves into R'than's sides, seizing his jacket as though it was quite possibly the only thing that could keep him steady on his feet.
Even when their touchdown was smooth and without even a bump, Goran groaned a little before he could help himself, trembling just a little for a moment even as he sucked in swift and shallow breaths. All right, all right, he was trying to keep his stomach from emptying itself, or, even worse, his eyes from rolling in the back of his head.
"T-Thanks." His words were so low that he almost growled them, genuine, but so shaken up that he was having more difficulty than usual when it came to articulating. Of course, now he was also stuck on the dragon's back, and the thought of trying to get off had him practically paralyzed with fear.

R'than unstrapped himself swiftly, still wondering if this had been an entirely bright idea. Perhaps it hadn't, but it had seemed like a good thing to do at the time and he couldn't change it now. Encouraging Garith to lower his stance more than usual, the rider slid to the ground and released Goran from the harness.
"You can either grab my hand to step down, or swing your leg over his neck and hold onto the ridges," R'than told the clearly unhappy candidate in a calm, clear voice. "He's not going to move to unbalance your, and don't worry if you kick him or anything, he's a tough old beast."
In light of the frightened person on his back, Garith refrained from giving a friendly rumble and merely sent his rider a mental smile. Human were such small things, it would be very difficult for one to hurt him on purpose without a weapon let alone by mistake... He hoped that this boy recovered from his fear soon, he didn't like the fact that he had frightened someone so much. He hadn't intended to but that hardly mattered to Goran, now did it?
