Potion of Weight Gain Cost: 300gp Upon consumption of this potion, you gain 1d12 pounds. I assume that the Potion of Weight Gain is similar to the True Weight Gain Formula in that it can be added to food via slight of hand and has a unique taste, right?

Ah, weight gain potion can be added with slight of hand, but it has no special taste detectable when mixed into food.
