Okay, so I was thinking about something the other day: what if everyone was like me? Am I that good an imitation of Christ that if everybody decided to copy me, they'd be copying Jesus? It didn't take much thought to realise that no, they wouldn't. In fact, the world would probably get worse if everyone was like me. Now, I'm not saying that you're all rubbish Christians, so please don't get offended. Nor am I saying that the world would get worse if everyone copied you; I'm just posting this to make you think. So, think. Are you imitating Jesus, as the Bible tells you to do? Philipians 2:5-7 5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant. 1 Corinthians 11: 1 1Follow my example [that's Paul's, not mine], as I follow the example of Christ. Ephesians 5:1-2 1Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children 2and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. 1 John 2:3-6 3We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. 4The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5But if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: 6Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did. John 15: 12 12My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Because you're His ambassador down here. 2 Corinthians 5:20a 20We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. When people look at you, they think they're seeing a good Christian. You might be the only Christian they know. If you give them a bad impression, they'll just go away, thinking, "Oh dear, this person isn't a very good Christian. There can't be anything true in this religion." You could be the one that God uses to save a soul tomorrow. So live like it! Even Ghandi said that, "If Christians would really live according to the teachings of Christ, as found in the Bible, all of India would be Christian today." Tl;dr: -Live according to the teachings of Christ. God just might use you to save a soul. ...and, discuss.

I think that's quite interesting.
I go to an all Christian school, and am sad to say that some don't even try do as Jesus says. We've all disobeyed at some point or another, but some people just have no regard for what Christ said (even though they claim to be Christians!). I've pointed passages out where where it clearly states something, and they try to weasel out of it saying it's ambiguous.

They same thing happens to me but there are going to be people out there that know matter what we try to do or say they won't follow Jesus but the people that WILL are the people we need to reach. And all we can do is our best for Jesus and pray that others will strive to be their best too.

And all we can do is our best for Jesus and pray that others will strive to be their best too. We can do more than just try. That's what the Holy Spirit is for! If it was just you talking to them, there would be no chance of anything. You have no idea what the Holy Spirit is doing in that person's life. God is omnipotent; He can do anything. I know that if God had left my salvation up to me, I would never have been saved. But God doesn't do that. He calls people. I'm sure you remember what it felt like before you were saved, when God was calling you. He does that to other people as well. Look at Paul, in the Bible. He was the kind of person that would never have been saved on their own, and God used him to write half the New Testament! @HEHinze: 'Female Pastors' thread. 3nodding

I think everyone annoys God... and often. Of course, this is probably because we are humans and we can't get rid of our sinful nature, though we can try to avoid it.
I'll bet God has a lot of "*smacksforehead* What were you thinking?" moments.

They say, trying is an excuse for not doing. Its either do or do not.
We only have to imitate Christ not the the perfect copy(in case some were thinking like that) We can be like Chirst, even if its 0.0000001% each day

wow, i have to take my hat off** really nice topic, i think its the most important that ive read so far. congrats.
about that of which u speak, its the commont thing that is happening right now in teenagers, i can speak a lot about it because now that im in college some of my friends find that hard to do because what the flesh wants is easier to follow, but then again if we look back to what jesus made in the cross, nothing is enough for us to repay it somehow. And we christians are supposed to reflect God somehow in our ways of just being us, like a good example would be that people can just see u as a different person, as an example of what happened to my roomate:
one day hes with his cousins and they decide to go to a pub, my friend jeorge being christian he was hungry had nothing to eat, he decides to go if he can find something to eat. they arrive at the pub, he leaves his cousins in the pub because he saw a near stand of food outside of the pub, when he finishes eating he gets back in the pub, and hes now in the middle of everyone there dancing, he feels shocked so he just sits in a corner, then two ladies come up to him and they said to him this: "hey theres something with u that just makes u different from the rest, are u christian?" he said yes i am.
and that is how we are supposed to affect people outside, let them know with something as simple as our devotion to God with our lives, to reflect in our faces or whatever that makes them wonder WOW theres something different with that guy, i want what he has inside him!.
let me know if my post help contribute in any way. thanks wink .

More food for thought:
In my Sunday school lesson today, there was a bit that hit me. A paragraph talked about how when we pray, we often give God little disclaimers like "If you can't do this, then could you at least do this?" As Voldy said, He IS omnipotent. I really sat back and looked at the scripture of "If you have faith like a mustard seed...." I think that we just go "ok, that's really small.... I get it." Do you really?
We live in an age that believes that miracles are folklore or don't happen. Then we claim it's a miracle when we get a good parking spot at the mall or you pass a test.
If we had even the slightest amount of faith, with 0 doubt, we could do the unimaginable.
At camp this summer, the worship leader told us about an email he got of a missionary who was beheaded, and his head put on a stake. A passing man didn't think that it was right so he took the head off (a long time after the execution) and put it back with the body. Several eyewitnesses say that the man's hand instantly grew back to the body and the man awoke. He then continued preaching the message. This isn't from biblical times. This is from the past few years. The man still has the scar.
You're probably very skeptical right about now. The entire congregation was mumbling in doubt. A thought popped in my head: That is MY God. My friend Jenn summed it up perfectly in small groups later. If you don't believe that God could do that, then what do you believe He can do?
What do you believe HE can do?
