for how long?

I thought about joining most of my family has been in the army, (grandpa in Nam, uncle just recently retired, mother is still in) but they got pushy and I decided to stay out.

I'm in the Army currently station at our own FT Lewis. My MOS is 11B, infantry. I'll tell you up front that the military is not for everyone, and to honestly know if it's for you or not, you'd have to be in it... kinda shitty ain't it?
My only suggestion is to have very, very thick skin. No matter what branch you join, or our job, or how long you've been in, or what your rank is, you'll have to put up with some of the same things. Your peers are going to give you a hard time (usually just friendly jabbing), your superiors are going to ride you to do your job quickly and well, those under you (once you get those) are going to ******** up, and you'll have to ride them to get it fixed.
The hours are usually long, and hard, but weather it's worth it or not is totally up to you.
Anyone who's in the military that reads this will probably chock it up to a load of s**t... even I do, but it's not wrong, and probably the best way to describe it to someone who doesn't know themselves. There are a lot of good parts too... but the recruiters will tell you all about them

I just enlisted in the National Guard as 52C or Utilities Equipment Repairer. I'm posted on Camp Murray at the moment, but I'm about to leave for Ft. Jackson, South Carolina for basic training in 2 days. I'm 17 and let me tell you that the military is deffinately not for any regular civilian. I'm also an assistant recruiter for the Guard so if you have any questions I can try and answer them.
