This is part of a cult legend I'm writing as a background history for my roleplay Guild.

Lotta resided in a frozen meteor, slumbering for countless aeons. She was awakened by the creation of Kadyenia. Approaching the deities creating the world, she made herself humble before them and begged to be granted a role in the planet's being. The deities debated among themselves for centuries as life began to grow and develop. So wrapped were they in their decision-making that they did not pay attention to Lotta's interests in the planet.

Lotta delighted in misery and destruction. When lightning ignited forests, she would laugh and run among the flames, stroking animal corpses adoringly and waiting anxiously for the mightiest trees to fall. When drought turned already-stricken lands into desert, she would lie in the sand, basking in the sun and the agony of creatures that died of thirst.

Eventually, the deities granted Lotta's request, and bestowed her with power over Kadyenia. By this time, Lotta had become infatuated with the species known as Humans. They were so different from most of the species besides the Dragons. Lotta loathed the dragons - the Humans seemed to fear them. Curious, Lotta granted several Humans knowledge of how to interact with or slay the smaller dragon species. Thus empowered, the Humans engaged the Dragons for the role of dominance over other Kadyeni species. While they could never hope to slay the larger dragons, their power over the smaller ones reduced the forces available to the large, removing part of their advantage.

The deities were enraged, but they had given their word to Lotta and she was now a Kadyeni deity as well. As the years progressed, the Humans and Dragons eventuall balanced their power out. Humans ruled the domestic world, while dragons reigned over the wild. Lotta grew bored.

The foreign deity was intrigued by the Humans. They worked against nature and with nature so sporadically, it was amusing to watch them. Sometimes they even tried to improve on nature, or eradicate it completely from areas and then revive and cultivate it within those areas. Their methods roused her curiosity, and she decided to cultivate the humans to her own purposes. While she was not human, she had traits similar to those of humans, and she wondered how they would look if altered to look like her.

Lotta manipulated children in the womb, elongating their fingers and slanting their eyes to look more like her own eyes and fingers. These were the first Elves, and the other deities were furious. In their fury they told even the Humans of their anger. The Humans, not understanding the logic of the deities, knew only that the great beings they served were displeased with the babes that did not look like other humans. Anti-Elf sentiment was stirred among the humans. There was abuse and even murder in a misguided attempt to please the deities, who did not realize the havoc was of their own doing. Lotta was delighted by the chaos.
