That's right, after years of watching fictional vampires drink out of donated blood packs, I finally gained enough weight that I could fill a donated blood pack of my own. And I must say that the blood packs in the show looked richer and brighter than in real life.
So how about you lot? Have any of you ever donated blood? Ever done something that strongly reminded you of Hellsing? Ever noticed some... inacuracies in the show as opposed to real life (excluding the obvious)?

So, at SakuraCon there was a blood drive. All the Hellsing cosplayers wound up flocking to the floor that it was held on before we even knew about said blood drive... It sort of became our hangout spot.
In the end, our Seras managed to get the poster for it once the drive was over, and we edited it as we saw fit. She even stood around with it by the escalators for awhile and ALOT of pictures were taken.
I'm probably gonna donate blood sometime, the only reason I didn't at SakuraCon was 'cause I missed the deadline to sign up for it.

Ever done something that strongly reminded you of Hellsing? Ever noticed some... inaccuracies in the show as opposed to real life (excluding the obvious)? Let's see. Sadly I have never donated blood. Though I have had blood drawn. I have never been to England. Shot a gun heavier then I am. Killed anyone of the undead persuasion (or living for that matter). I haven't joined any secrete societies. I haven't met a single Nazi. Yet to be capable of transforming any part of my body into bats or dogs or insects. Nor have I been able to regenerate any faster then the normal rate. I can say that I have ever drank blood. Been in any creepy killer churches. I haven't been impaled or shot in any way. I have seen a female police officer once. Her breast size was no where near Seras. I guess that's something, eh?

I've had no luck donating blood though I'd be willing. First I was too young. Then I always seemed to be on some sort of medication at the time and was barred from donating. Now whenver I hear of a drive I'm scheduled to work that day/time.

Maybe it's the thought of having an 18 or 19 gauge needle shoved in my arm and seeing my blood siphon away.

My father can't even stand to watch me put my earrings in!
I've gotten enough shots over the years (allergies, etc.) that I don't much care. It's odd though; I'm more relaxed if I can see the needle going in. I think it's the control of seeing vs not knowing when the p***k will come. Once in, I look away and think about anything other than having a needle in my arm. What is really strange is I feel more disconcerted, and almost nauseous at times, when the needle is removed, rather than when it is put in.

Then again, a friend of mine, who is a retired army sergeant who saw action in Iraq, can't look when he gets an IV or injection. He's had cancer, too, which makes the problem even more bothersome. He'll actually vagal himself into a feint. I think if I could put the IV in myself, I'd be better. Control, as you said. But good on you for donating!

Yeah, his general physician gives him hell about it anytime he can. All good natured, of course.
Vagal?
Sadly, I've yet to donate blood. Just spent a lot of time in hospitals over the years

Blood donation: Thanks to a mad cow dormancy period that keeps getting higher, it looks like I'll never be able to. It's anywhere from 15-60 years, last time I checked. Though the Brits must get blood from each other... (in the usual way, I mean). With Hellsing in general, I've been reverse-reminded. Episode 11 has a bunch of the classic London buildings I visited earlier this month. And Alucard's liquid-darkness stuff and some of the other vampires bear a resemblance to the rather demonic hallucinations in a couple of my sleep paralysis episodes. Gorenza I have seen a female police officer once. One time I had to get fingerprinted by this police officer who looked just like a very serious, mini Anne Hathaway. For some reason I found her tiny gloves funny, and it was really hard to keep a straight face during the whole procedure. sweatdrop
