Does your fantasy world have a system of government? How is it arranged or the necessity components of it? Does it play a critical role in your world?

Of course, each country has some kind of government. Complete anarchy would be utter chaos.
The main ancient civilisation I have is pretty much a theocratic empire I'd say.

The story that I'm working on has five kingdoms, each oppressed in a different, but all ruled by one person. Does that count as a government.

Normally in my fanasy tales it has a monarchy or a dictactorship. I have the occaisonal non existent government for those chaos filled tales. Democracy I write in rarely but if I feel a government won't be mentioned much that'll do for it.

Mel has a great point! Unless you have a story where one of your worlds is dipped in total chaos, anarchy is not the way to go.
Most of my worlds have a solid government. For example, there's one that has many forms cuz there are many countries in it. One country in the entire continent (there are 3 more populated continents in that world) for instance that is the only one that still has Monarchy as a system. All of the others have moved on to such ones as Communism, The Republic or even Democracy. Sure, I don't exactly know how they all work but I don't focus on writing about that, he-he.

oddly enough one of my stories I am working on is dipped all in chaos, and therefore the government system is pretty messed up at the moment lol.

well in some ways the story takes form yet there is no actual basis for a government as it keeps changing yet there seems to be still some sort of stabilty.

I see...
You know, I usually go with Monarchy in my stories when it comes to a form of government cuz it's much easier to figure out. My first story for example, has a king and he's in trouble, not the queen as some would usually have it. As a matter of fact, there isn't a queen in the story as she past away many years before it started.

Exactly! Which is why most of my stories just stick with it, he-he.
There are however, many countries in a certain continent of mine where, out of the 7 countries only one is still stuck on monarchy. Kinda like the UK, he-he. sweatdrop Not that I'm trying to insult anyone, I'm just saying. mrgreen I've been trying to study up on other forms of government but it's a bit boring. I did try for most of these countries to change their government and most are either republican or democratic. While the rest are: 1 communist, 1 monarchy and I think the remaining one is something else but I'm not sure if I decided on a type already or if I left it hanging cuz my story doesn't really focus on said country. Does anybody have any ideas on what kind of government I should make that country be ruled by? Especially if you think it's gonna be more interesting that way!
