Synedra quickly followed suit. "Lead on." What have I gotten myself into... She gave a glance toward the docks, too late for an escape now.

It didn't take them long to get there, and Baron hesitated, eyeing his house uncertainly. He could see his mother bent over in the garden, and could hear her humming quietly. He looked to Synerda, smiling weakly, "You don't have to try and talk with them. And make sure I'm quick, because I'll start stalling eventually."

Synedra gave a silent nod, eyeing the woman in the garden and fingering the edge of her shirt. Please let this go well... She still had her prejudice, but in an effort to help Baron leave the island she would try not to let it show.

Baron nodded, biting his lip, then trotted forward a bit, and clearing his throat, "Mum!"
The woman jumped, and stood up, turning to face them. Her eyes went wide, and she stepped out of the garden, staring at Synedra, with a look of awe on her face. She walked over to them, hand on her chest.
"Gods above..."
"Mum, this is Synedra. She's...like me."
"I can see that..." She moved closer and offered her hand to the female taur, "My name is Serene, its wonderful to meet you."
Baron cleared his throat, "I actually came home early to tell you something."

As the woman first approached, Synedra was unable to halt the step back she took, but she did limit it to just one. Two feelings warred within her. She did not want to taint the impression of her kind by being rude, nor did she want to be overly kind to a woman who had kept Baron away from his kind. Even if she wasn't entirely at fault for it. So there was a somewhat awkward pause before she took the woman's hand in hers. "Synedra," was all she said so as to stay out of Baron's way when he began talking.

Serene stared at her for a moment longer, then looked to Baron, who swallowed heavily, and quickly explained his plans to her. He was shocked when he saw her give an understanding smile, and nod.
"I was wondering when this would come up. I think its a good idea, son, you've stayed away for too long." She sniffled and wiped her eyes on the corner of her apron, "Just promise you'll come back and visit."
Baron whined, his ears lowering and his tail curling between his back legs, as he scurried forward and hugged her tightly.
After a few moments of hugging, and talking, and Serene telling him to just go and let her explain to his uncle and sister, he stepped away and towards Synedra, head low. Serene was still smiling weakly.
