Shade nodded a bit - he'd really have to listen to the other version so he could compare them. It would be easier to understand what Verdant was talking about that way. It was easier for him to give an opinion if he actually got to hear the differences between them.

The impling's ears twitched at Verdant's words; he must've sounded spoiled, complaining about education. He was lucky to have it - there were some kids who never got the chance. "I...well, I guess it's not so bad..." How could he explain this without sounding like a total brat? "It's just...not my thing, I suppose..."

Verdant chuckled at Shade's response. He was pretty sure the poor kid just plain did not like school, but was now feeling a little guilty for complaining. "Well, school sounds boring so I can see why you wouldn't be keen on it. Plus, I hear that students bully other kids; I hate that. Like, that's one of the reasons I'm glad I was taught at the youth center; being bullied for being 'orphaned' and stuff probably would've made me miserable."

Verdant was actually not all that concerned about not having a family. There were people who were far worse off than him; hell, everyone in his apartment complex was like his family! He was never lonely because of them; he should show how much he cared about them more often.

Shade's tail flicked at the mention of bullies - that was yet another reason he wasn't overly fond of school. A few of his...preferrences had been discovered by some people, though he'd done his best to keep them to himself. Unfortunately those people weren't the nicest of teens. Luckily, the most he'd ever gotten were a few looks and a bruise on his arm. "Yeah...it's probably not fun..."

The impling blinked as Verdant asked about him getting in trouble. He shook his head after a moment, smiling to the older man a bit. "No, I don't think so." At least, he was hoping that he wouldn't. His mother wouldn't be home for a while anyway, so he didn't think it'd be a big deal. "Mom won't care, so long as we don't make a mess..."
