A seemingly endless void of unexplored space. This area of the galaxy has been given many labels. Most of which involve the words endless, abyss, or place of no return. Not many dare to enter this endless ocean of wave after waves of stars. It has been a safe haven for space bandits, pirates, outlaws, and all other types of rejects from society for many years. However, it also contains countless possibilities of new life, riches beyond reason, and lush new worlds ripe for the expansion of all species. Some fear it for many dangers lurk within its borders, while others dream of the possibilities of new lives on new worlds. The central government has issued rewards for those willing to brave venturing into the unknown.
The outlaws tend to stay along the rim, not daring to venture further into the unknown. They lurk just out of the reach of the invisible arm of the government, slipping into civilization just long enough to pillage and destroy. If one breaches outlaw space, then there are more dangers to face. Discovering new life on a new planet could mean new allies to join with. Or it could also mean finding a hostile civilization that views explorers as hostile invaders, bent on destroying their very way of life. Anything could be out there. This sea of stars houses magnificent nebulae, planets, stars, etc., all just waiting to be discovered; if there are those who would try.
