Earth is not the only planet capable of sustaining life—countless light years away from the Milky Way, the distant Magi Galaxy boasts numerous planets inhabited by dozens of sentient, and often humanoid, species. Magi consists of three sectors: Balthasar, Melchior and Caspar, each of which contain planets hosting a series of greatly diverse societies and inhabitants.
Ruling over all three sectors is the Ryuusei Government based in the Galactic Core region. While the officials of Ryuusei see themselves as purveyors of justice and stability in the galaxy, their laws are often unpopular in planets outside of the Core. Landowners and even common citizens tend to writhe against the heavy-handed tax burdens Ryuusei establishes, and smugglers are constantly undermining the government’s attempts to control the populace by stealing and trading in a healthy black market ring.
However, the Ryuusei did succeed in one area. As more planets in the Core and the three sectors began to suffer from overcrowding or mineral depletion, the government declared that it would partially fund any corporation or private team that explored into Deep Space to colonize new worlds under the Ryuusei flag. This formed a zeitgeist of exploration and adventure in Magi, particularly among young pilots and private contractors. At the same time, legions of space pirates took to the stars as well, attempting to grasp for more territory in the hope of filching goods out of unsuspecting travelers, and, eventually, establish a rule that could oppose the Ryuusei.
So begins the tale of the Magi Galaxy.
