I play both woods and airball and my style is different for both. I like to snipe in the woods and lay down a load of fire on the field. However, I always fall back on speed in a bind.

Due to thier shape, paintballs are naturally inaccurate. Any projectile as large as a paintball needs to be connicle in shape, like a bullet and have a mild spin for stability. Round objects are accurate at short ranges but not at long ones. Spin also caused round projectiles to curve. These are the reasons why real guns fire bullets not balls.
Markers tend to have a range of 150 to 200 feet and much farther with a flatline. Most games usually take place within what could be considered short range (less than 50 feet), so marker accruacy shouldn't make too much of a difference.

If you're not intrested in the science lesson then remember that most markers don't come with sights for a reason.

hmmm ever think it might have something to d with vertical feed and top-cocking ???

Alot of low end markers with top cocking and a vertical feeds still come with sight rails. Why I don't know, but they do.

I do agree that accuracy is very important, but a paintball just doesn't provide the precision needed for hardcore sniping.

A paintball doesn't have the precision you need if the factors (barrel length, ball to bore size match, velocity, etc.)

You could have the most accurate set-up in the world and you would still have difficulty hitting the same exact spot twice from a reasonable sniping distance. I'm talking about a difficult shot like hitting a player from across the field when he's hiding behind a bunker and all you can see is his hopper. If you had a full hopper, homany time do you think you could make that shot if you only fired one at a time and aimed each time. You could put the marker in a vice and still only make that shot a handfull of times.

This is the reason why people fire in bursts, it increaces the chance of hitting your target for shots like this.

I like to snipe, I use high quality paint and I always check to see that I have the right insert in my gun. I also use a scope that is sighted in. I can tell you from experience that a paintball rerely hits the same spot twice. And yes I have tried the the thing with the gun vice.

its because its not a Bullet. Its a f*cking Waterballoon basically. its not going to be accurate to a point that people would like it to be.

All you guys prove valuable (ok, i know i spelled that wrong, lol) points. And paintball doesn't cut through the air like a bullet, it basically tumbles, almost like a shotgun slug. However, you can be an effective paintball sniper. As earlier said, you can't get any real accuracy from a long range. There are just too many variables over that distance. Instead, lie in wait, and nail someone from ambush at closer ranges. Use a high quality barrel, high quality paint, and a scope that's been dialed in, and you have a good chance. Make a human sized target (or similar) in your backyard or somethin, and just practice over different distances so you get good at guessing the drop and such of the paintball over the distance.

p.s: Don't know if this really helps, but i would think that a pump/stock class marker would be much better to use than any semi-auto. Those markers are make up in accuracy what they lose in speed.

Ok, my vote is for accuracy and here is why. Blowfish, a team outa California. Read Action Pursuit Games, awesome Magazine, and look for a back issue (last year) that talked about an 11 v 12 game, stock class (or pumps) vs Angles, Timmy's, Cockers, ect. The pumps (blowfish) lost like 1 guy and wiped out the other team. Trust me, if you can learn to shoot accuratly with one bps and about 50 shot on you total, you can kill when you get to shoot 10+ bps. If i can paint you with one shot, imagine what I can do when im shooting 10 shots a second... Id be unstoppable. Oh by the way, Blowfish is an Pro team that competes against ohh Dynasty and all them.. and they do pretty well seing as how they use stock (pumps) only.

Yeah, i read that artical (I've got several APG's and other mags on my desk right here next to me). Blowfish are a very good team, and I say, more power to them for using pumps.

surrogate_dark
accuracy by volume
or
economy of force

speed is nothing with out at least a little accuracy (500 bps is worthless if im pointing at the wrong bunker)
r
yup, and being able to shoot one fly off the others back isnt much help either, like you said, if you are shooting at the wrong bunker...
