Nikalo noticed his friends smug smile, but didn't know what caused it. Maybe he was going to regret meeting these friends of his. Or it could be something else entirely. Then the name of a female dropped from his friend mouth. Nik felt that uneasiness again, wanting to tell him to stop saying random lionesses names. But that would be... stupid right? Why did he care that his friend had other friends. Nik shook his head. Maybe he was going crazy. "Why do we need a network of lions who can fight?"
Anijak tuned out what Asia and Citali were saying, focusing instead on the look on Ci-Ci's face. What. The. Hell? Fail him? How had she failed him? It was his own damned fault for not asking Citali in the first place. And maybe a little bit his sisters fault as well, but he already forgave her for that. Why did she look like she was about to cry? Damn it. If she cried, they would all yell at him, because it would be his fault. So, he ignored his sister and Kelasia and moved to stand in front of Ci-Ci. "You didn't fail me, Acierta." He never used her full name so maybe it would make an impression. "And if you were ever in trouble, all I would think of would be saving you."

"Why wouldn't we?" Kizrain challenged with a shrug. "It's just a handy thing to have... Like a network of cubs from all across the lands that are best friends and ride to each other's rescues..." He grinned. "Like our predecessors, who were all royals of their respective prides. Thus making one of the most powerful alliances possible." A dismissing flick of his tail. "It's just something to think about."
Acierta sniffled, obviously trying not to cry. The real reason for the mood swing she could not name, though it was a trait she had come by honestly. Her mother occassionally did much the same thing. Was the moon full? That always made it worse... She sniffled, trying not to cry. Wouldn't that be idiotic? She was the one who had found him... Had untangled all his precious beads and bells and what not... Led him up the path here... And she was the one who was apologizing and crying. Good. Grief. But a female could seriously have her head turned if he looked at her like that and talked to her like that... Seriously. He'd even said her full name. He would save her? "I never thought you would fail me, Anijak." She said with a small smile. "Never."

Nikalo shook his head. He didn't see the point in having a network of allies and fighters. He would do anything he needed to do by himself. Having friends, like the ones in the room, was one thing, but dragging them into danger was just wrong. He wouldn't be able to do that. "I suppose." He just agreed. It was easier than trying to explain that he would not ask for help. Just easier. "Should be an interesting challenge, then, trying to hold that many lions together." He looked over at his sister, noting her expression. "And why is Acierta looking at Anijak like that?"
Anijak shifted from one paw to another when she smiled at him, relieved that she wasn't going to cry anymore. That would have just been bad. One thing he knew about women was that when they cried, they got whatever they wanted. And since he had no idea why she had been so close to crying in the first place, it was just smart to keep her from crying. Her words made him pause though. She didn't think he'd fail her, huh? It almost brought a smile to his lips. My, was she in for an awakening of sorts. All of them were. "Of course, Ci-ci." He smiled at her.

"Suppose." Kizrain echoed playfully with a shrug. "Just suppose. Let's suppose your best friend is a genius while we're at it, ok? I'm kinda partial to that supposition myself..." He glanced over at Acierta, then frowned. Was there any good way to say it? Nope. So he just kept his yap shut.
Acierta figured she was looking at Anijak like she shouldn't be, so swiftly she returned her eyes to the ground and wiped away with her tears with the back of her paw, finding no words would come. Silence was probably best.. That and shaking herself out of this madness...

"Genius, right." Nikalo snorted, but only half paying attention. He was focusing on Acierta, now. He should have been paying more attention. What had that prankster said to her, anyway? he found he couldn't remember anything but what Kiz had been saying. Which made him frown harder. What was wrong with him today?
Anijak looked down at Ci-Ci and wanted to sigh. She still didn't seem like she was alright, but damned if he knew what her current problem was. Women. Because he could never understand them. He looked over her head at his sister, wanting her to say something, breaking this ackward silence that had settled over them. His eyes met Nikalo's too, pleading. But all he got was a glare. What had he done, anyway?
Nikalo met Ani's eyes over his sisters bowed head. He understood what the older boy wanted, but he wasn't sure he should break the silence. Still. It would help his sister, after all. Nik rolled his eyes. "Now, I believe someone said we had business here tonight?"
