Well, "Band Nerd" is extremely smart, but a little strange. You know, likes old-school cartoon, knows that "pokemon" is short for "pocket monsters", and spends lots of their time out side of band listening to upcoming MB music and trying to figure out what time it's counted in.
"Band Geek" is just...one of those annoying, creepy band people. The type that are pretty to really good at their instruments, but don't stop talking or talk about really strange things. Like...babies getting eaten? The type that ruin conversation and would probably be pretty cool to hang out with if they knew when to shut up.

am a "Nerd."
Funny. I'm a band nerd, because I listen to past shows, future shows, present shows, and shows the band directors aren't even considering.
And I conduct the music I listen to sometimes, and when people headbang off-beat, I laugh.
I know a hard-core band geek, in your definition.
This sax player named Eric used to be good, (but now he isn't), and he'll say stuff that he thinks is funny but is just so random that it's not.
Like, "Diabolacal ninja gerbils with bazookas."
Or, "Giant talking squirrels with bazookas."
Yes, every time it's "with bazookas."
We're always like "Eric, do they have to have bazookas?"
