Kiara's ears instantly perked at Dimitry's voice, accustomed to the odd echos of the barren walls and ceilings. She moved to stand. He had sounded closer than the mouth of the cave... "Whoo." She sighed once she was on her feet. Stepping off the little bed nest, she heard hooves approaching followed by an odd scraping sound. Was he bringing it all the way in here?

Dimitry laughed softly. "Don't act all hungry or anything!" Taking the end of the scoop up once more, he dragged it the rest of the way into their nest. "Ugh..." Flicking his tongue, he tried to get rid of the taste. "Just as nasty as last time..."

Kiara snorted. "The last time I rushed you for food, you got all snooty with me." She lifted her nose, the scent of Dimitry, and the fish, preceding any visuals. "Mmm." She trotted forward to meet them, grabbing up the fish quickly and chowing down where she stood. She looked up briefly at the stallion's complaint. "Nasty? What is?" She giggled when she saw Argon on Dimitry's back, curled up with his usual piece of fruit.

"Tree," was all the managed to get out. Bowing his head, he snapped up a piece of fruit and gobbled it down quickly in an attempt to get the headier taste out of his mouth. With a hard swallow, he favored her with a quirked brow. "Are you still hungry? You ate really fast..."

Kiara looked down curiously at what remained of the fish. There was still a little bit to get at, not much though. "Well," She started defensively, "I've been searching the caves today, of course I'm hungry." She scoffed as if it should be obvious and finished off the fish, licking the thin bones clean. She was still hungry, but her belly was big enough... "No, the fish was fine." She said stubbornly. She paused a moment, smiled, and gave dimitry's nose a quick lick. "Thank you though." Then she turned back, laying next to her bed to clean off her muzzle.
Argon squeaked, hopping off and going to his little nest in a nook of the wall to eat his fruit there, away from the stink of the fish.

Dimitry opened his mouth to retort, then paused, balking. Did she just-... he flushed beneath his fur and glanced off with a short (completely masculine) cough. "It was nothing. You want more? I can go out and get it." Snaring the fish by the tail, he looked to her patiently. Had to get this thing outside. They'd learned the hard was as foals that leftovers brought unwanted visitors.

"No, nothing else for now." She said, sighing as her stomach gave a soft groan. She ignored it, curling up on her bed and laying her head down, eyes already a little distant. Lately, her thoughts had been going to an odd place. To back when they both had been little foals, even before they had met. She wondered how she had gotten there, the vaguest and fuzziest memory that she had started out looking for someone. Her dreams had visions of cracks of light, then sudden cool air. A feeling of being alone and lost. Kiara wasn't sure why all this had started up. Was it something to do with her getting fat? She blinked, looked down at her heavy belly, which continued to get heavier no matter her efforts, and grumbled at it again. She wanted to eat so much more than she was...

The corners of Dimitry's lips pulled into a hard frown. Something was wrong here, but he couldn't put his finger on it. Nor could he really press. The mare didn't like it when he questioned. Accused him of calling her weak. But he wasn't sure what to do for her in this case. Everything had changed since that night. Clearing his throat gently, he moved quickly for the front of the cave. Trotting down the path a ways, he dropped the remains of the fish, then moved back toward their den. Never slowing, he made it back to her side in a matter of moments. With a light groan, he dropped to his side behind her, then rested his head on her ribs. He shot her the best pair of fawning Keshi eyes he could muster.

Kiara peeked after as Dimitry left, watching him take the remains outside. He was so good to her... ever since they were young. She flashed a warm smile of the likes that she only admitted at night while the stallion was asleep. Suddenly, a cramp sprung in her side, low. She hissed softly. Great, now food was making her stomach hurt. Hearing the heavy clack of Dimirty's hurried return, she erased the pain from her face and laid back down. Surprised, she looked down at the weight on her ribs, and couldn't help to giggle at the face that greeted her. "What is that look for?"
Argon was watching the mare intently from his nesting nook. He seemed to be the only one who knew that Kiara was not just getting fat. He had seen and smelled pregnancy in his own large group before joining the kirinae. His yellow eyes were curious. How did these lumbering beasts give birth?

"Somethin's buggin' you," he drawled out slowly. "And I wanna know what." Scrutinizing her with narrowed eyes, he long considered. "You don't look sick. Are you still tired? Are you sure you don't want something else to eat?" He frowned somewhat. "Are you cold?"

Automatically, Kiara opened her mouth to object, but paused. The seriousness in his voice and eyes made her sigh and flop her head back down. He would take care of her... "I'm fat, I've been getting tired much too easily, and that fish had something weird in it that's making my stomach hurt." As if in responce, another pain wrapped her side, making her hiss again. "Like that." Lifting her head, Kiara's dark eyes flicked between Dimitry and her side, daring the stallion to tease her about her weight while glaring at the spasming muscles at her hips.

Dimitry made a face as the first words left her. She wasn't fat. Might be a little under the weather and sleeping too much, but it was nothing a little rest and relaxation couldn't cure. He frowned at the second. "Your stomach-..." He rose suddenly as the pang hit her. Brow creased, he glanced at the little Quetzil helplessly, then back down to Kiara. "Is it bad?"

Kiara, stubborn as ever, shook her head. "It's not so bad. It's just... there." The pain wasn't really all that bad, yet something deep inside told it was going to get worse. ....but why? "Where did you find that food anyway. Maybe your nasty green stuff mixed in with my fish." She asked, giving Dimitry a playfully suspicious glare.
Argon perked his head when the stallion looked over. Maybe he finally knew-? No, probably not. He huffed softly at the silliness of the kirinea. His Kiara girl hadn't taken a single hint when he had first realized she was pregnant. He had tried to get her to slow down, eat more, but his efforts had gone unnoticed.

Dimitry glanced up as Argon pouted, the shrugged a shoulder awkwardly. "Hey, the green stuff doesn't hurt my stomach, so why should it bug yours?" He wrinkled his nose at the mare. "Really, though, are you okay? We'll bed down for the night..."

"Because I don't usually eat it." She accused, feeling it was obvious. She was mostly joking, but a part was serious. Something about that rabbit food was probably affecting her. "It'll be all right." As much as she denied though, she knew more was coming. She narrowed her eyes and flattened her ears as she felt something shift in her extended belly and cause a new roll of pain. "Bed should be good now." She said around her clenched teeth. Who knew being fat would hurt like this? No. It wasn't fat, and it wasn't the food. Something else was happening.
