While I like the idea, I do agree that it would be a lot of work. I would imagine that there could be some flashbacks as some of the characters recount certain things to the others that we could easily set up for something like that, but we'll definitely have to see how the RP goes as to whether or not there is actually enough to dedicate a full-out quest series to a character. Otherwise, we're looking at having a bunch of three- and four- hour gameplay sets compared to however long Matasoga's quest set is going to take.
I could reason out going either way, so don't rag on me for picking this route. It may not be too bad of an idea to go through for the different characters, but even I wouldn't work on that until much later down the line.
Hm. Interjecting once more, unless we have a ******** amazing story to tell, I would discourage the flashbacks idea just as strongly, as the levels gained in a flashback wouldn't be relevant at all to the characters at the present time in the game. For reference, once again see Final Fantasy VII, when you first get to Midgar and Cloud tells the party (what he believes to be) his story. This is still entertaining only because of the story. So far, I don't know that the backstories that we have really necessitate any actual in-game, interactive screen-time in the form of actual play.
Just to note, I don't mean to minimize the importance of any of the other characters, nor to have Matasoga hog the spot-light. I am all for finding...More functional ways of shifting the limelight and attention onto other characters, which I really hope to work into the RP. The way I see it, the game either should be based on the RP, or you don't. As it is, there is no focus on combat in the RP, but I have plenty ideas for where combat would be. This includes lists of monsters that inhabit the swamp and random encounters that could happen on the way there and back.
If you intend for the video game to follow the RP, then I suggest you wait and see how things go in it before this is really a viable discussion. I see it as more costly (in terms of the time it will take) than the worth of the effort and seamlessness of the game.
