You lost me at gay with the captain, just like
Moby d**k.
gonk question sad confused burning_eyes eek gonk ... What? I read this book when I was quite young, so I guess that totally passed over my head (as did a lot of things back then). Now that I'm older, I shall have to read it again and lose my childhood innocence.
....Same here. But eh... Supposedly, Ishmael and Ahab (I've also seen Ishmael and Queequeg) aren't gay, just that they have a really close bond.
Which is clearly bull, because while homosexuality wasn't openly tolerated or discussed, it had always been very much around, so I'm going to just say that they probably were written to be either awkwardly close or just straight up gay (lulz at my wording).
@SPI-14: You are effin' golden. Seriously, I'm in love with you right now. That description was awesome. Holy crap, words can't even express how much that could work. And the whales. I might just make some of them run into ships on occasion.
@Sidnay & Lily, YES. That is actually ridiculously awesome.
@ No one in particular, I think I'm going to name the series something like Lighter Than Air after one of three ways airships could work (the others are heavier than air and a hybrid of both).
Seriously, asking you guys, I didn't expect such amazing responses. You guys rock, hard.
