I still like Anne Rice vamps. Actually, I was more pissed off that she turned her back on her previous work, and even condemned it a few times, that what she said about Meyer.

I'd never even heard of Anne Rice before I joined this guild. sweatdrop I also have no idea what you're talking about, so... This thread is now about J. M. W. Turner, the 16th-17th century British landscape painter. EDIT: Oh shi- he's actually an 18th-19th century British lanscape painter. My bad. I subtracted a year from 1700s-1800s instead of adding one... you know? Also, I don't understand why you guys refuse to talk about him. mad

You make sense, I remember posting I wasn't going to finish her books.
But five minutes later after that I picked up The Vampire Lestat and continued reading it (still not finished). *Hypocrite* I guess it was easier to say to myself that the characters didn't share the same opinion as the author.
I did lose a little respect for her after her comment but it's no reason for me, or anyone, to go retarded and start hating.

I haven't started reading her books yet. Didn't she write 'Interview With A Vampire'? If that's the case, I might pick that one up from my friend when I'm done reading Midnight Cab....
Although, I agree, we are getting pretty stupid, aren't we? My apologies. Hopefully, that'll be enough to slap some sense into us, hm?
So long as Rice's vampire novels are sparkle-free, she'll be on my list of 'Need-To-Read's, which includes Sherlock Holmes and Dracula. ^^;; I also need to finish those manga I borrowed from my friend. D: I'm too damn lazy for my own good.... Like Liebe, I must admit... I had never heard of Anne Rice before joining this guild. I'd seen on a book cover once, but that didn't really register until I joined the AT guild.
So, no need to worry about me. I'll likely pick up one of her books within the next year. However, if her newer books are all 'holy' and such, I will probably disregard those.
(Damn... I ramble too much...)

Ok so a lot of people were up in arms (mostly the goths and anti-twis) about Anne Rice's thoughtless statement, which she made after admitting to have never read the books, that young readers should Quote: ,"Turn to the new Queen of Goth, Stephenie Meyer". Now I beleive I have already exspressed my opinion on Meyer as the Queen of Goth in previous post. So I'll not go to much into that. Suffice it to say that I strongly disagree with this assumption (and btw, even if Meyer was in any way a goth author that doesn't make her a good writer). So, moving on, I was rereading this sentence and it seems to me that Anne Rice is assuming that SHE was at one point a "Queen of Goth". Who the hell does she think she is? Her books were good, yes! But they weren't THAT good! Nor where they THAT Goth! (granted I've only read the Vampire Chronicals. The witchy-series she wrote didnt seem all that interesting to me. Maybe it was the lack of hot guys, idk) xd I've said it before and I will say it again, having vampires in your story does not automatically make it Gothic Literature!Anne Rice a Queen of Goth...not really. Stephenie Meyer a Queen of Goth...Hell ******** no! my opinion of Anne Rice or her writing has not been affected by her careless comment.

Once upon a time I was a fan, but then her writing jumped the shark and she turned on her fans, I could not respect her as an artist or a woman after that.
