It was another day in Llurth Dreir, another boring boring day for the priestess in training, Charune. Well maybe not a priestess in training YET but it was determined she would be the next matron. She was currently looking over a few books next to the window, completely bored with them. Her golden eyes looked over the pages of spells, worship practices, and appropriate sacrifices to Lloth. She wished she was outside playing with her friend Rahi. She smirked a bit thinking about the fun they had gotten into the other day.
They had snuck into one of the seer's rooms to look at her seeing stones. Of course neither of them had taken into account that perhaps the seer might SEE that they had planned to sneak into her room. They were having a grand time with the stones when the seer of her house appeared and yelled at them. Something about messing up her triangulation to the forces of the spirit. Both and run out of there with the giggles and evetually were forced to part ways.
She sighed softly, she always did enjoy Rahi's company. She only wanted her for a friend, ignoring all others. She started to day dream about the next adventure she and Rahi would have. Her golden eyes stared out of the window, the books now a forgotten memory as she began to daydream.

Im'rahi was giggling, as she watched her older brothers and sisters as they trained under the scathing eye of their ever critical Matron. It was rather sad, seeing as they didn't really know too much about what they were doing. Though..Im'rahi herself didn't know half of what they knew. She was in training to be a healer. Something she was quite proud of. None of her other siblings had an inkling of magic in them. Rahi felt rather proud of this fact.
She cocked her head to the side, past the Patron's long robes to peer out the window on the other side of the male. She sighed, wistfully wishing she could go out and play with her friend Rune. She immediately shifted back into her original position when her ever watchful maid touched her on the shoulder. She remained in her dutiful position until finally..the Matron motioned in a bored fashion for the older children to leave.
Im'rahi's features stiffened when the Matron turned to regard her with cold regard. "Have you completed your studies for the day Im'rahi?" The Matron asked. "Yes Matron, I have." Im'rahi replied..trying not to fidget under the watchful eyes that were now on her from all sides.
"Dis'ru?" She questioned, turning to the handmaid with a raised eyebrow, "This is true?"
"Yes Matron. Her studies are completed, the masters were quite impressed. They say she is learning very quickly." Came the soft reply.
"I am please to hear so. Im'rahi, you may go out and play now. Just try and stay out of trouble." The Matron intoned.
Im'rahi bowed to the Matron and then slowly walked out of the room. Once she was in the hallway she skipped happily all the way to her room, where she immediately changed into play clothes. Then, with speed in her feet she dashed out of the house and in search of Rune.

Rune finally escaped her own lessons to go out a play. For a drow female she was hardly as serious as the other females of her house. Many questioned her ability to be a matron if she acted so immature. But she paid them no mind, she knew they were just jealous of her birth right and the vision made at her birth. It was said she would save the greatest healer her house had ever seen. Many questioned this vision as she was merely a child and would recieve her second vision upon her womanhood. How could a child do such a thing?
She made her to a hidden room she and Rahi had taken over. They had decorated it and made it their own little sanctuary. There were two roll out beds that they could sleep on should he become tired. Food was stored near by as well as a small place to cook any meat they nicked from the kitchens. There was only one window, and it was partially blocked by a scaffolding. The house was under constant repair so the girls hadn't used their little hidding room lately for fear of being discovered. She sighed as she waited for awhile near the window, wondering if Rahi had finished her own lessons as a healer.

Im'rahi was now in the kitchen of House Auvryvirr and was raiding it for whatever food she could find. Of course it was rather difficult, seeing as the kitchen staff was already preparing food for the evening meal, and the kitchen was bustling and almost overcrowded. Im'rahi managed to grab some sweetbread, several pieces of fruit, and some sweet drink before she was spotted by the head cook.
With loud protests and several cookware flying after her, Im'rahi departed from the kitchen, quite proud of her haul. Her feet flew over the the marble floors of the back entryway and down the stone steps and out into the courtyard of the House. She turned to look back to make sure she wasn't being followed and her departure was suddenly halted when she ran smack dab into a rather solid frame and fell backwards, her confiscated food flying from her hands. Rahi scowled up at the immense figure of her Patron who was now glaring down at her in return.
"Just were are you going Rahi?" The male asked, helping her to her feet after a few moments.
Rahi brushed off her clothing, still scowling and began to gather up the food stuff. "Mind your own beeswax, the Matron said I could play and that's what I'm going to do." She ended by sticking her tongue out at the male.
He sighed, brushed his hair out of his face and told her rather warily. "Well watch were you're going, and be careful. The streets of Llurth Dreir are not safe for children to play in. And..be if you're not careful one day your face will freeze like that."
Rahi rolled her eyes and brushed past him, retorting brashly. "The streets are safer than most Houses, even you should know that. And It shan't freeze, so there!"

Rune sighed and wondered what she could do while she waited for her dear friend. She smirked a bit as she watched people walk under her window. She decided to have some fun. She took some nuts from their last run through the kitchen. They were hard and bad so she could have some sport.
Silently she waited until someone had juuuuuuust walked under the window before tossing a nut down. She snorted into her hand as she heard the sound of someone yelling in pain. Most just cursed and blamed it on the construction near by, perhaps some sort of falling pebble from the building. Oh what fun sport!
Rune continued until she ran out of nuts, then used a few squishy fruits that had gone bad. Oh those got even more of a rise. She began to wonder what had become of her dear friend. She was later than usual.

Im'rahi started to dash across the run down road to Rune's House when a slight tremor ran through the ground causing her to pause. She scowled, waiting until the tremor died down, rather angry about having to stop, but in Llurth Dreir when an earthquake hit, one was to stop and stay clear of buildings..in case the earthquake got worse. She folded her arms over her chest and glared at the ground, kicking a small pebble aside with her foot, wishing that the tremor would die down.
If it didn't she'd have to return to her own courtyard and forgo her playtime. She hated when that happened. A pout pulled her face into a disgruntled look, as she eyed the distance between the Houses forlornly as she waited.
Finally! The tremors quit and Rahi made a mad dash for the open window that she normally used to enter their little hiding room. She was about twelve yards from the window when an angry roar sounded from behind her. Confused, she turned and was met by the angry features of a huge male dryder! Rahi screamed so high pitched that several windows in the area shattered. She turned back around and made a mad dash for the window, knowing her only hope of escaping the maddened creature was to jump inside the hiding room.
Her small feet sped over the ground, her hair waving around behind her as she frantically ran as quickly as she could for safety. The mad bellows of the creature grew louder as he got closer to her, now only a few feet behind as he quickly caught up with her. Rahi sobbed as she realized that she would never make it to the open window in time, but that didn't stop her from trying.
She figured that as long as she kept running, it would give adults the time to get at the dryder and catch him before he actually did any harm to her. The thought that adults might not get there in time did not occur to her. At the last second, when it appeared that she wasn't going to make it, only a foot away from the window...Rahi launched herself through the air and grasped at the window sill attempting to pull herself in to safety.

Rune sighed, still bored when the shaking started to happen. She immediately moved away from anything that could fall on her and waited for it to stop. She hoped Rahi was ok. Then she heard a sound that made her blood go cold. The roar of a drider. Her house kept a few for protection but this was not one of theirs. She immediately ran to the window so see where it was when she saw a horrific scene. Her beloved Rahi running for her life with a drider fast on her heals. She looked for a path for her friend but saw none that would keep her alive.
Tears ran down her cheeks at the thought of losing her closest friend at the hands and teeth of a mad drider. But it only took a moment before her mind came up with a plan. She grabbed a bedsheet and tied it to the scaffolding outside window. She hung out just far enough, "Rahi!!! Take my hand!!!" She screamed to her friend as she reached out.
Dark flesh circled around dark flesh as the stronger Rune grabbed Rahi's hand and yanked her hard. Using the bedsheet as a lever she hauled them both back into room, both falling on the floor. She got back up quickly, knowing drider's could climb, and saw the animal trying exactly that. Her golden eyes suddenly became as cold as the metal they resembled. She grabbing a near by pipe that had fallen in the quake she hit the scaffolding near the window, breaking a piece off. The break caused it to fall and pierce straight through the drider's chest, killing it instantly.
She watched as the life drained out of his eyes then said a small thank you prayer to Lloth for giving her the wisdom to save her friend and kill this unworthy male. Finally she turned to Rahi and wrapped her arms around her smaller friend. "Rahi!! Did he hurt you? Are you alright? Are you injured?!" She immediately set about examining her friend.

Rahi was almost certain that her death was inevitable and within seconds she would be joining the long dead ancestors of her House in the Spider Queen's Dark Abyss when the sight of Rune peering out of the window came into view.
Rahi gripped Rune's hand tightly and still sobbing with fright she was hauled to safety. She fell to the floor in a small heap, with Rune falling next to her from the force of the yank. Rahi was even more frightened when she heard the bellows from the drider outside coming closer and closer to their hideout. She stared, not really comprehending what was going on as Rune grabbed a pipe and hoisted it out of the window at the maddened creature.
She huddled under the sheet, as she numbly took in Rune saying a quiet prayer the the Spider Queen. She slightly stiffened when Rune's arms encircled her and held her close, in a warm hug. Then she relaxed and burst into tears of relief. "I'm fine Rune..nothing hurt..save my feet." She sniffled, rubbing her eyes with the back of her hands, pulling away from the other girl a little.
"I was so scared, I thought I was going to die." She murmured, shuddering at the thought. "But you saved me. You rescued me, dear Rune." With this said, she leaned forward and kissed Rune soundly on the side of the mouth, gratitude showing in her features.

Rune held her crying friend, wiping her tears away with her sleeve. It hurt her deeply to see someone she cared so much for in such terror. In was unusual, for a drow female to be so caring and protective but she refused to allow any harm to come to her Rahi. She made sure to check her over everywhere for any sign of injury but she seemed to be alright. Her friend seemed more scared than anything. Rune only smiled softly as Rahi kissed her and thanked her for saving her. She leaned over and kissed the other girl on the lips gently. "My dear Rahi. I would never let anything happen to you. Especially not from some unworthy male."
Once her dearest friend was calm she went to get some water from their cupboard. She poured them both a cup and curled up with her. The sounds of the guards coming upon the dead drider passed her ears but she didn't care, all she cared about was being there with Rahi. However the sound of her mother's yells did reach her ears. She stood and went to the window, where she was immediately spotted by her mother. At first she thought she might be in trouble, but someone whispered into the matron's ear and she smiled up at the young female. Rune was confused but she took the smile as a sign that she wasn't in trouble. She left the window and went back to her friend.

Im'rahi felt her fright fall away in the safe enclosure of Rune's arms, as she let herself empty herself of the build up of emotions that had flared at the near death experience. She finally stopped crying, but she felt so empty, light headed and almost sick from all the crying. She was rather relieved that Rune wasn't too overwhelmed or disgusted by her outburst.
She savored the light kiss on her lips, feeling a whirlwind of emotions run through her..some of confusion, some of happiness and some of an emotion she had never felt before. She smiled up at Rune, taking in her words eagerly. "With all my heart I thank you Rune." Rahi replied a happy smile on her face. "I shall return the favor someday." She promised, "even if it means I must die to do so."
She sat up slightly, and watched Rune pour water for the two of them. She took the water and drank it slowly..very thankful for the quenching wetness that ran down her dry throat. She curled up against Rune, snuggling against her, and tuned out the noises from outside. She was slightly startled a few moments later when Rune got up and went to stand over by the window. Rahi frowned a little, rather disappointed that Rune had left her side. She didn't have to wait very long for Rune to come back and join her.
The two girls snuggled up with each other, holding each others' hands and falling into a rather blissful sleep. Unaware of the contract being negotiated between their families down below. Were they to know what was being agreed to, they might actually be thrilled about it. But as it was to be..they would not be told of the contract until they were much older and much more experienced in their careers.
For now the two girls were content to sleep, with faces next to each other, feeling the slow breath of the other against their skin.
